Earlier this month, healthcare workers at Community Health Care clinics ratified a strong new contract. We came together for real wage increases, good benefits, and fair discipline, and our unity and actions — including 7 simultaneous pickets across Tacoma — secured us a great contract.
Welcome to new delegates! Last week we had a powerful reminder from Michelle Douglas of @emergencyfoodnetwork that when labor shows up, our community gets fed. Together, we’re building partnerships that turn solidarity into real support for Pierce County families.

Powell: "The thing a good number of people on the committee are concerned about is very very low level of job creation. If you adjust the trend job creation over the past 6 months for what we think is overstatement due to overcounting, effectively there is 0 net job creation in the private sector"
The SAVE America Act would create unnecessary barriers to register to vote and dramatically restrict which citizens vote.
The Senate must reject this dangerous legislation.
A green-themed campaign graphic promoting “YES Tacoma Parks Prop 1.” The top section shows a blue box with bright green and white text reading “YES Tacoma Parks Prop 1,” alongside a green tree and silhouettes of children playing. Below, on a solid green background, the Pierce County Central Labor Council AFL-CIO logo appears next to large white text reading “Labor Endorsed.” The overall design emphasizes parks, community, and environmental investment.
Pierce County Labor has endorsed Parks Tacoma Proposition 1 because it delivers real results: up to $155 million invested in more than 40 parks, community centers, and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium projects... all with no increase in taxes.
This April 28th, vote YES on Prop. 1! 🌲
Tell your senators: Don't make voting harder for working people. Call: 844-733-3172 | AFL-CIO
The SAVE America Act is a voter suppression scam targeting working people who don’t have the time or money to get a passport or stand in a DMV-style line to chase down their documents. Make your voice heard. Tell your senators: stop the SAVE America Act! https://bit.ly/4rvhAeV

Railroad tracks run through countless communities. Without safety reform, risk of a toxic derailment like the one in East Palestine, OH is ever-present. We thank Reps. Chris Deluzio, Mike Rulli, Nick LaLota & John Garamendi for reintroducing the bipartisan Railway Safety Act. ttd.org/news-and-med...
After their service and sacrifices, veterans shouldn’t have their essential health care put at risk, but that's exactly what has happened at the VA under their DOGE/Project 2025 agenda.
Eliminating thousands of medical positions is an attack on veterans.
Graphic styled like a news screenshot from “the STAND” with the headline, “Tacoma-Pierce County labor bodies endorse Yolanda Lewis.” A yellow comic-style starburst on the right reads, “bit.ly/TacCityManager to learn more!” In the foreground is a professional headshot of Yolanda Lewis, a Black woman with short, side-parted black hair, wearing a black blazer, pearl necklace, and red lipstick, smiling confidently. The background shows blurred article text referencing Tacoma, WA (March 3, 2026) and labor organizations announcing their endorsement ahead of a Tacoma City Council vote. The overall design uses purple and yellow accents with a bold, campaign-style layout.
PCCLC & Tacoma Joint Labor have issued a joint endorsement for Yolanda Lewis ahead of the city council's vote on appointment today. The endorsement reflects shared values: resilient workforce structures, and leadership grounded in integrity and collaboration. Read more: bit.ly/TacCityManager
🧵 How institutional norms form and how modern authoritarian regimes are using these norms as a tool of consolidation:
Organizations adopt similar structures and practices because of coercive (regulatory), mimetic (imitation), and normative (professional) pressures.
In light of the State of the Union last night, remember this: The Department of Labor reported that the U.S. economy averaged 15,000 new jobs per month in 2025 — compared to 168,000 per month the year before.
That’s an 88% drop, the worst annual jobs revision since 2009.
The SAVE America Act would silence the voices of working people who don’t have passports or can’t afford fancy international vacations.
Congress must protect our right to vote and stop this voter suppression scam.
