People don't pointedly use the word "filth" enough

A picture of a library shelf with a small rolled up note on it. The note says “read this” in child’s handwriting.
A picture of the note unrolled. In the same child’s handwriting it reads “beware of the future!!”
Still thinking about this note I found in the children’s section of the public library when I worked there back in 2018. This kid tried to warn us…
Regret to inform everyone that Peter Magyar beat the world’s smartest illiberal populist in large measure by working incredibly hard for 2 straight years, meaning the rest of us are just going to have to get off our asses and do shit rather than just complaining.
Doesn't even take 2mins to donate, quick & simple, even a fiver if you can manage it will show them your support

You can probably support the working class and demand support for people who are struggling because of capitalist inequality and also not pretend massively bigoted rhetoric and action isn't happening or being Trojan-horsed in under the guise of taking down those in power, by the way. Just a thought.
I genuinely can't stop thinking about the Iranian kids who spent yesterday wondering if they were all going to die and what that day will do to them for the rest of their lives.
Having a constant low grade panic attack over it
So pro-life means jailing women who miscarry but shrugging when the deranged president says “a whole civilization will die tonight.” Do I have that right?
I would have…until I saw him as a manure collector in Quakser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx and that killed any potential woulds there ever could be

There was a documentary about her that addresses that fact, which i only know because Donald Clarke wrote an article about it at the time- her dad weirdly ended up living (and dying) in Dublin! www.irishtimes.com/culture/film...
There’s a lot to be said for celebrating joy, including other people’s joy even where it’s for reasons that don’t touch you

Cartoon by Bernard Hage: Title How to watch the collapse of civilisation 1. A bearded middle-aged man sitting in a chair, looking at his phone. He's slumped forward, his posture is terrible; a broken red line traces the curve of his back, and there's a red X next to the picture. 2. The same man sitting in the same chair looking at the same phone, but this time he's sitting up straight. A broken green line traces his straight spine, and there's a green tick next to the picture.

Presumably trolling on the part of Khamenei to say today that Iranians have “dealt him [the enemy] a dizzying blow so that he now starts uttering contradictory words and nonsense"... when he knows full well that's just how Trump speaks anyway

It is *fascinating* to me how quickly some people have gone completely from “we all must work in the office! human collaboration is vital and only happens in person!” to “I can replace all these pesky people with chatbots!” Definitely some commentary there about our society and who gets to choose.
Lovely to hear the bit of Gaeilge and Irish music on TV and radio during the Seachtain na Gaeilge/St. Patrick's Day run every year, and would also suggest to broadcasters that they can incorporate those things into their shows on all the other days of the year too, at any time, it's not even illegal
