Sounds well up my alley. I'll have to give it a look!

I'm sick for the second time in three weeks. What fun!
Send me cool minis, book recs, pictures of pets, or jokes of any quality, internet friendos, so that I might kill the time.

I should do a giveaway here too!
I'll randomly select someone who retweets this to receive a signed copy of Daughter of Crows 🙂
Two leaves, a feather, a rope, and two purity seals sculpted out of greenstuff.
And here's what I did learning to sculpt with greenstuff from Joe Orteza.
Day 2 of Adepticon! I mostly had classes and seminars. I did some hands on TMM painting meant to be display level. Taught by Bob Cohoon.

Cyle and Kyle. Cyle is throwing the horns and rocking out.
A wizard in blue and yellow with a book and a mouse. He has his arm outstretched to cast a spell.
Kyle with Sean Sutter and Malev.
A massive Linebacker and pilot at the Warlord booth. A female pilot gives the thumbs up from the ground.
Great day 1 at Adepticon! Kings of War Big Game run incredibly well by Cyle, even if he spells our name wrong. Tried the new MSP line (like them!). Met up with the Relic Buds. And so much else. Lovely conversations with so many people.

For sure. Truly stunning work! It was nice to see such a breadth of figures and ranges too.
I shall paint the straightest of lines whilst under the influence of our cardinal color tomorrow afternoon.
🙇♂️🍷
The highest award I aim to achieve! I'll be there.
I am in Milwaukee for my first time at a certain miniatures focused convention. I'm flying solo so hit me up if you have anything exciting going on or brought a fun pickup game!

I really dig it. Solid performances and some great set pieces! It's a slow burn though.
A group of six snotlings in various Bloodbowl poses. They have on orange, yellow, and red uniforms.
Snotlings are just lil guys.
A miniature of a woman holding a staff topped with a crescent moon. She's dressed in blue and khaki.
Little WIP Wednesday on that creep to Adepticon.

It's time for another first page excerpt from one of my stories. "As You Say, So They Are" is a war story of the monsters we create and those we become. It was published in the "Shift" anthology, which you can pick up here: www.inkalchemybooks.com/shift
Naomi commissioned/purchased all the artwork for the books she's published for Ink Alchemy. Beware the Light was done by someone she knew in Ithaca, NY who quietly does hobby painting. Weirdscapes' cover was done by Lix North: www.instagram.com/lixnorth
Oh and a little about Ink Alchemy books. Founded by my friend Naomi a few years ago, it's an indie publishing masthead that puts out real work by real human authors and artists. No AI. Just cool people making cool things. Forgive any em-dashes. We were using them before AI tried to steal them. 😅
Heretic, Angel, God Kyle Thompson Heretic An orange glow illuminated the low-hanging clouds in the night sky, as if the fires of the underworld were following Gustav as he trudged away from his village. Despite the distance, he could still smell fouled wood smoke and roasting flesh. There would be nothing to return to. He let the thought drift away on the chilly, late spring breeze as he continued up the hillside. One foot in front of the other. There was no time for grief. If the Holy King’s soldiers found him, they’d be sure to kill him and add him to the pyre too. They likely were already following his trail. The spring rains had left the ground muddy, not only slowing him down, but leaving a clear path where he’d trod.
My story "Heretic, Angel, God" was published in this collection of fiction where good is bad and bad is good. This fantasy yarn dives into the perspectives of someone named a heretic, the enforcer who chases him, and the god who commanded his death.
This week, I'll share the first page of each of the stories I've had published in Ink Alchemy anthologies. If one catches your eye, help out Ink Alchemy and buy a book, won't you?
Starting with our first anthology, Beware the Light, which you can find here: www.inkalchemybooks.com/beware-the-l...
Update: Some painting has indeed been achieved.
I don't like being chronically online, but I do like the community of artists and enthusiasts I've slowly uncovered as forums gave way to social media. Also, I need to let y'all know what I'm up to to make this year's (mis?)adventure work. If you read this far, thanks. You're a cool person.
So that's what's up. I'll be posting more. More minis. More writing. More whatever I come up with.
The cover of Weirdscapes: An Otherworldly Anthology, edited by Kyle Thompson. It depicts a canary in a steampunk style space helmet.
I'm super proud of this collection and I love the stories I selected. And while I'm bad at self-promotion, I'm quite happy with my piece in it: Old Light and Other Lies.
An add for a reading of Weirdscapes at Card Carrying Books & Gifts in Corning, NY. Reading on 3/21 at 6:15PM. The add depicts a canary in a steampunk helmet.
Speaking of writing, if you're in Corning, NY or the surrounding area, come see a few of us read from the anthology I edited for Ink Alchemy: Weirdscapes.
I'm building an HR/culture building application that will let me write more as a chronically curious person. I will be building games, writing, and painting more.
I will be revisiting and finding a way to release my first novel which has been fully written for years, hell-or-high water. I will probably take some commissions for painting (I'm coming to Adepticon for the first time!).
Things that have been more hobby than career since I was in high school, I am hoping to cobble into a workable living.
After 15 years of slinging code and running engineering teams, I'm seeing what I can get up to when flying solo.
The next 12 months are going to be what I'm calling a "spaghetti year."
Also, my life has changed quite drastically in the last month. I have an opportunity to do some self exploration that can be chalked up to medical misadventures and dumb luck. So, I've left my professional job in environmental tech.
