Spent Saturday with President Obama and New York's Cutest — turns out my first name is Mayor and I need to be doing more squats.

Here’s to building a City where families can thrive and every classroom is full of this much joy.

Once home, got it, but rather than chase back down McKnight, used a couple stamps (now that I knew how much postage it needed), and placed it in the house’s mailbox. Checked; the mailman had not arrived yet. So, again, anything but the car! 8/

The last thing in this morning’s running around was to get a second package in the mail, identical to the first. I would have shipped that one along with the first when still at the P.O., but didn’t have the address. What to do? 7/

From there, almost immediately 10:42 2 ib 6013 McKnight at Siebert. As with the 2 I caught to get here, inbound is _away from_ the city. 6/

This is the post office parking lot. The bus stop is on the diagonally opposite corner. Look closely; no-ped-xing signs across both directions from here. I scurried across to the corner to the right where I can legally cross the 7-lane stroad. 5/

Got to OfficeStaplesDepotMax & bought my stationery supplies, then to the post office, mailed my package, then tried to figure out how to get to the bus. 4/

That was supposed to say mixed MODE. It’s what I do. Mix up modes of transportation, not simply hop in the car to go everywhere. Later today I may use a pedal bicycle to accomplish one errand. Anything but the car! The car _was_ necessary for that first thing but not anything else. 3/

9:50 2 ob 6214 Northway Mall. An outbound 2 Mt Royal and the inbound 12 McKnight both go from Northway to the post office & the reverse back. Why drive & use fuel with two perfectly good (and essentially free) alternatives? Yes I have a senior pass but any timed pass would also be no-cost. 2/

Today’s transpo, like many Mondays, is mixed mide. Started with my weekly food rescue run, requiring the car. Sat in a coffee shop to figure out my day. Then hop on a bus to get the next part done. Could’ve driven but why bother when there are two buses to get me there & back to the car? 1/

Replaced the inner tube on the bicycle so I can go on a ride next week, first time this year!

Does anyone know the city’s plan for repairing repairable steps? Cost estimates, order of priority, which & how many per construction season? 7/

I hiked from the bridge at Winhurst St, the city line, down to just past the bridge at Forsythe St, surveying the inbound side. Also checked out the steps down to Eckert St. They're in bad shape but useable. A couple sections on a bad tip but any decent Pgh mountain goat will be OK. 5/

Overlooking a deep ravine where once stood a dilapidated pedestrian bridge.

Overlooking a deep ravine where once stood a dilapidated pedestrian bridge.

I did not realize they’d taken down the old closed dilapidated Wilksboro Ave footbridge. Are there plans to rebuild it, does anyone know? 4/

They're all DUI hires.

I figure two or three trips like that will complete the inbound side of the 13 route. Do this every two or three weeks as schedule & commitments & weather permits. Might take me all summer if I work by myself but it'd get done faster if I had help. Anyone interested? Contact me! 3/

The plan is to start at the Bellevue/city line then start walking inbound. I'll let one 13 go by then get on the next one. Ride that down to Federal St then catch an 8 back out. 2/

Took 10 more minutes trying to make it across the river bc of gridlock at the Lacock Street light. Almost 15:10 headed for the scooter. Def would’ve gotten across the river faster on foot. 7/

Right now, the bus is stuck in car traffic trying to get into a parking garage. I could’ve already been downtown if I’d walked. 5/

I do have rain gear but it’d be preferable to miss it altogether. 4/

To get back downtown, 14:40 13 ib 6202 WNorth at Federal St. Hopefully I’ll be able to scooter home before the rain moves in. Radar shows it an hour away. 3/

After, I walked across the Clemente/6St Bridge to Federal & North to finish my post-meeting computer work. Piles of people aht & abaht but more for a Parrrrts game than the upcoming NFL Draft. 2/

Today’s transpo fun: I had to be downtown for a 10am Toastmasters meeting. Scootered to the park & ride but 18 minutes to a bus? Naw, I can scooter the rest of the way in faster. Made the meeting site with 10 minutes to spare. 1/

Prague just opened the new Dvorecký Bridge. It's exclusively for trams, buses, bikes, and pedestrians. Private cars are completely banned.

I always keep a couple of spare fives on a shelf near the front door in case I hear the truck coming. I'm 67.
