Those weren't superhero movies. A lot of those weren't planned out as franchises. Avatar 3 only needs 3 years. No direct superheroes sequel had this long of a wait. It wasn't a TDK, NWH or Avatar level success.

1. Elseworld needs to die. The joker 2 rejection proves it's time to abandon non dcu projects.
2. There's no blockbuster filmmaker slower than reeves.

Only 4 years and nolan did inception between then. The batman wasn't as successful or acclaimed as the dark knight.

Nolan never needed 5 1/2 years and directed movies between the sequels.
