Credit Bureaus Are Leaving More Mistakes on Frustrated Consumers’ Reports Under Trump’s CFPB The credit bureaus have started dismissing a larger share of consumer complaints without help since the Trump administration began dismantling the CFPB.

Two of the three major credit bureaus have sharply reduced the share of complaints they resolved in customers’ favor.

In 2024, Experian’s relief rate was 20%. Last year, that figure fell to less than 1%.

Do you just not like Cohelo at all, or is it the proselytizing of fans that is riling you up? You probably would say the same for pirsig, I'm guessing.

Never make fun of someone if they mispronounce a word - Brent Logan "Never make fun of someone if they mispronounce a word. It means they learned it by reading." –Anonymous. I can relate. How about you?

I always liked this quote: "Never make fun of someone if they mispronounce a word. It means they learned it by reading." Having a big vocabulary from reading should be celebrated, not shamed. brentlogan.com/2016/03/neve...

I had to learn how to pronounce palanuk from a tweet that was shared on bluesky. I had been pronouncing it wrong for decades. And overcomplicating it, apparently.

read across genres and it's wonderful. *But* I have the most profound attachment to the short story. I do put it on a special little pedestal in my mind, above most other forms of writing. This is my pet bias.

Except for union baristas.

We got hit with a community standards violation for posting links asking you to contact businesses about the Forest Service dismantling. But it worked Patagonia listened. Because of the issue on FB, we’re building a dedicated website for that kind of action. We’re hoping to have it live by Monday!

Important Proposed Zoning Change
There is a proposed zone change that would impact NE 45th St from
40th Ave NE to 45th Ave NE. The proposed change allows multi-family
5-story apartments (which LCC DOES support along Sandpoint Way NE)
instead of existing zoning of 30-foot detached homes bordering
Laurelhurst Playfield. This would be an overwhelming change in height
and type of housing on a residential street with no commercial services.
This is not consistent with the intent of locating denser housing along
major transit (fixed rail lines) specified in State HB 2011 which passed in
2024. Over 1400 people signed the petition to retain this zoning and
move LR3 (55 feet) closer to major transit routes.
Please testify in person or virtually to oppse the proposed 5-story LR3
zone on NE 45th St because it takes 5 Councilmembers' votes to add an
amendment to retain existing heights, and add instead along Sandpoint
Way NE. We want to invite all neighbors to join in the opportunity to
make a public comment. Meeting are: (Council only) March 19 at 2pm,
Public Comment April 6 and May 29 at 9:30am, and (Council only)
June 4 at 1pm and June 18 at 1pm

The Laurelhurst Community Council says that allowing apartment buildings close to the 31/32 bus is "not consistent with the intent" of a state law that doesn't exist.

I honestly can't tell if they mean HB 1110 (2023) or HB 1491 (2025), but that's not how any of this works.

Remember when Ursula K. Le Guin savaged J.K. Rowling in a 2004 Guardian interview?

“I have no great opinion of [JK Rowling’s writing style]. When so many adult critics were carrying on about the “incredible originality” of the first Harry Potter book, I read it to find out what the fuss was about, and remained somewhat puzzled; it seemed a lively kid’s fantasy crossed with a ‘school novel’, good fare for its age group, but stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative, and ethically rather mean-spirited.”

Let’s not forget what Ursula K. Le Guin had to say about JKR and Harry Potter.
