If you're around on Saturday, there's a listening party you might like... @rickyholland.bsky.social
I'll be there!
Yes! I would've thought it was a song only John could sing, but it's great. I love that she sings "our love will turn you on" like the whole world is singing a love song to Yoko!
The audio version of my Beatles INVENTORY is available now via the @backlisted.bsky.social Patreon.
This week: Step inside Strawberry Field and Penny Lane, get out of that sour milk sea. 🎶

From one Beatles fan sitting listening on a couch to another, this was a wonderful listen. And I have to ask, who sang that cover version of Oh Yoko! at the end? I'd never heard that before!
Graeme Souness relaxing with his chickens, Southport, 1991.

Haha! For me, point 4 blends into point 5. With my days spent applying sticking plasters for people stuck in an inhumane and unresponsive system, seeing competence is total wish fulfilment! You should watch it, just for yer kink!
Didn't read the article (This story contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of The Pitt, “9:00 PM.” was 1st line!) But all I'm fit for in evenings just now is bingeing this show as I'm snowed under & stressed with work. And, I've got to say, his fifth point really hits home
📚 Pre-orders now open! 📚

Dusty Springfield ~ Where Am I Going?
#DustySpringfield #BOTD
Dusty was a master at perfectly conveying a sense of wonder and longing. All her best recordings prominently feature either or both of those emotions. This lesser known track is a prime example.

The BBC undercover investigation into false immigration claims is deeply irresponsible journalism. It does not highlight that exploitation by unregulated advisors occurs because legal aid was cut and the system is insane to navigate.

Yes. I've always really rated this song. When a good chunk of yer teens are (mis)spent trying to work out the harmonies for this and loads of other songs on Rubber Soul, that tends to happen!
The Rediffusion 1968 version of ‘Entertaining Mr Sloane’ has now also been posted up to YouTube #JoeOrton youtu.be/pF3DpQJ-5vo
Front cover of Mike Westbrook's album, Love And Understanding. Featuring John Surman. A live recording of Citadel/Room 315 made in 1974. There's an abstract painting on the front with strokes of red, blue, yellow and purple. There are 3 dominant shapes that are reminiscent of tulips

He was -- though of course on both those records he was playing a part Paul suggested.
I think "What You're Doing" is an overlooked first part of that progression, incidentally.
Same here! The thought only occurred to me as I listened today!
Just thinking about the backing vocals in the middle 8. Is it "no, I wouldn't" or "know I wouldn't"? Either strike me that Paul's threat of You Won't See Me is an empty one & he's way more vulnerable to the reality of the other You Won't See Me meaning. What great song & episode!
This album is bloody brilliant! Listening to it makes me feel very happy. Get over to Bandcamp right now.

God, these lovely, peaceful morning hours in Europe before that stupid cunt wakes up.
Loved Smash Hits. Reading it was formative. And Sylvia Patterson was a big reason why. I'm also reminded of the time I put 'Girl I'm Gonna Miss You' on repeat on the jukebox at the Nirvana Hotel in Ardmillan when my mum was helping out her cousin behind the bar. Good times.
Same! And I did.
If you're in Edinburgh, you like art, and you like visiting brilliant pubs, come to The Dreadnought on Saturday. I'll be there with my art that celebrates Leith
