According to my FitBit I had 93 minutes of active zone minutes working in the garden today prepping it. I'm gonna be absolutely smoked tomorrow.
And necessary disclaimer than in my 10 years of experience in EMS the number of people in a mental crisis who behave violently is extremely, extremely small. Probably in the range of 1/10th of 1%. The vast majority of people are not violent even when in severe mental distress.
And the entire series is themed around trash, both literally and the people society devalues and discards so it makes sense.
The series itself has actually touched on mental illness in other ways that feels pretty true to life in my experience. It's not always screaming and crying and it can be in more subtle ways too.
I specifically thought of a patient who tried to punch me because I wouldn't let her hit her vape in the ambulance, who had that in her background.
I'm sure to some people Amo might come off as over the top but in my experience that is pretty much what a severely manic person with trauma acts like.
One thing that really struck me about Amo is she's pretty close to some actual patients I have had who are severely mentally ill and traumatized as a result of abuse in their pasts. In Amo's case, grooming and sexual abuse by a pedophile since she was a young girl.
I finally got to the part of Gachiakuta that made me interested in the series and I have to say I agree with the analysis of the person who was talking about it.
[Spoilers, also CW: sexual assault, abuse, mental illness and grooming mention]

A grave reading John Mason Currier Massachusetts Pvt CO 35 Machine Gun BN April 6 1894 Sept 25 1918
John was just 24 years old. If he had a way to avoid getting sick I'm sure he would have taken it. Fuck you, Hegseth.
My great great uncle who died of the 1918 flu at Fort Devens would beg to differ, Pete. I hope John Currier haunts his ass.

Two panel spread of 10 women seated across a long table. A serious blonde with princess leia ball hair. A darker skinned woman with dark hair and a nervous but serious expression. A princely type looking both bored yet serious. A giant lolita princess tugging at her frills. Our adorable monster sadako with heart-shaped curls going Oh! An old woman smiles and stands at the end of the table. Another old woman with tortoiseshell hair clutches a raven. A young black woman with a streak of white hair glares at the women across from her. A nerdy woman with glasses sweats nervously, and a cute teen girl with clawed fingers and fangs stares wide-eyed and open-mouthed at the rest of them.
New Wicked Spot and Sal Jiang just casually showing off why she's the GOAT. 10 women, 10 different faces, 10 different moods, actually black looking black woman, the sillies and the seriouses. Sal marry me plz (jk i'm not good enough for her)
Madame Radanovna's stat block was also fun to make because I basically put Strahd and Madame Eva's stats in a blender.
And think you can all guess how that would have gone. Best case scenario: turned into a vampire spawn and locked in a casket when he gets bored with you.
And Radovan wasn't a bad person necessarily but he was a nepo baby who basically never faced consequences for his behavior until it literally killed him. And his mom basically ran their family like a cult and was convinced she was gonna get to marry Strahd if she spied on Azalin for him.
We finally finished my take on Bleak House and the fact that one of the PCs just flat out walked away from Radovan giving his speech about how he never meant for any of this to happen is just flat out funny to me.
It had the energy of pressing X to skip the NPC dialogue because you don't have time.
My general advice is you are going to use a device like that is to use it to track changes over time rather than singular data points. If, say, you notice particular patterns in pulse or SpO2 that can be useful data for something chronic like COPD and help guide treatment.
No problem! And it is perfectly normal for it to fluctuate based on what you're doing. Which is why we emphasize "resting heart rate" to try and compensate for some of the variables.
And the sort of classic newbie mistake in my line of work is somebody gets a )ow reading on a pulse oximeter and tries to put oxygen on a patient who does not need it because they're not actually monitoring *the patient*, hence "treat the patient not the monitor."
And it's also a very common thing where if someone's blood pressure is extremely low because of something like internal bleeding the heart will speed up to compensate, but if you don't have a blood pressure you won't necessarily notice that. It's a major warning sign someone might be about to crash.
And a pulse in and of itself actually doesn't tell you a lot, especially when it comes to variations in individual biology. People who are young and very fit may just naturally have a pulse in the low 40s which if you saw that on a 70 year old would be serious cause for concern.
And as a matter of good practice we always try to confirm a pulse manually, i.e. take it pressing two fingers just below the wrist on the radial artery. A lot of people will not double check it and get a falsely high or low reading due to the above.
It also can't account for something like an irregular heart rhythm like atrial fibrillation because the displayed heart rate is based on what it's currently sensing. So it will seemingly bounce around a lot. Hope that makes sense.
But the main issue we have is if, say, your circulation isn't great in your extremities the reading won't be correct and something like carbon monoxide poisoning will give a falsely high reading because the CO displaces oxygen on the cell.
So more or less it measures how much hemoglobin is attached to your red blood cells by shooting a light through your finger as well as taking the heart rate.
The only culture some people got is C. diff.
A digital illustration of two japanese lesbians flirting in a queer underground bar in the 80s. One of them wears a blue jacket, the other a suit, while in the background there's liquor and a multitude of little stickers and illustrations of lesbian and queer marks.
The full illustration I did for @taplingzines.bsky.social "We've Always Been Here"
The zine depicts queer couples throughout cultures and history and I had the honours of portraying a Japanese lesbian couple in an underground bar during the 80sโจ

That whole movie was something
At my friend's birthday we watched a movie called Mechanical Violator Hakaider and the main villain is played by the same guy who did Seymour Guado in Final Fantasy X.
And I distinctly remember being pissed off because you have to kill Seymour like 5 times before he actually died for good.
