had more fun cheering on @meira-g.bsky.social while presenting our work investigating social surveillance on TikTok than I did during data analysis, which is impressive because TikTok comments are fascinating 😂 watch out for Meira who is doing very cool research on social media and online privacy!

a growing body of sec & priv researchers work to mitigate harms to communities marginalized by gender or sexuality, e.g., intimate partner violence, image-based sexual abuse, LGBTQIA+ / womens’ / girls’ online safety. esp. now -- let’s share ideas, stimulate conversations, and build solidarity.

magazine articles can be a great place for ideas that might not fit in a regular paper, e.g.,
- provoke discussion
- inspire new research agendas
- systematize existing bodies of knowledge
- critique existing approaches
- offer original case studies or research
