The big test that comes to mind is the Karius. In order for it to be ordered in the inpatient setting, both ID and Pathology needs to approve the test. We usually will recommend banking a specimen and only submit it if our infectious workup is unrevealing.
I think with regards to risk counseling we (TxID) have become less dogmatic and generally more open to counseling on harm reduction. #TxIDChat
