Happy Earth Day! 🌎 🌍 🌏
To mark this special day, we’re tuning in to Sen, the world’s first continuous 4K video livestream from space.
Sen’s cameras are hosted on our Columbus module of the ISS, with data delivered via the Airbus platform.

Today's most-read story: documents we obtained show the Wonder Valley data centre project has a major catch for the rural Alberta municipality where Kevin O'Leary wants to build it.

"This is an important thing to think about."
This is a top tier thread. Amazing.
Somehow the thread itself has “just one more thing” energy.
If there are folks who would like to design a couple of "FUND OUR LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARIES" posters, holler at me at niapoetry@gmail.com and please tell me your rate for this. Poster size would be 11 by 17 landscape size.
I need to print some posters for a forthcoming event.
a brown wire-haired pup stands on a wooden deck in a grassy yard. he looks at us with golden eyes and his right ear flipped inside out. he has a pipe-shaped stick in his mouth, giving him the appearance of a sophisticated and dapper gentleman. just give him a deerstalker cap and a cloak, and he'd give Sherlock Holmes a run for his money.
This pup found a stick shaped like an old timey pipe earlier today and has already solved three mysteries. 13/10
a photo of a small grey dog, named Baxter, laying flat on his stomach on a white couch covered with a dark grey blanket. the photo is taken from a distance while Baxter stares directly into the camera. the most notable part of Baxter's pose is the fact that his legs are comfortably propped up behind him at a 90 degree angle, creating an illusion that he's kicking up his feet like a teenage girl.
This is Baxter. He’s thinking about his crush. No he won’t tell you who it is. 12/10 (TT: jayshaun077)
Update #2: Quicksilver, a detector for AI-generated music.
Most folks today are not aware that AI-generated music (entire songs generated by AI models) are growing rapidly. Today, there are more AI-generated songs than human-created songs arriving each week on platforms like Spotify.

No no. You see, we need to go back to the old ways - where talented women and minorities participated, but ultimately had their work co-opted by white men who take the credit, accolades, and rewards.
"We are being asked to accept permanent environmental damage, long‑term public liability and water risks that can't be engineered away, all to support an industry in structural decline that contributes little in royalties and is largely owned by foreign investors."You tell 'em,@corblund.bsky.social.
Banning algorithmic pricing ought to be a no-brainer call for any government: people don’t like to be ripped off, surveilled, or treated differently from their peers.
Algorithm pricing does all three of those things.
A grim, interesting read here, and a situation I’m sure is familiar to many people in Britain and elsewhere.
A toxic combination of people being hugely suggestible, and the traditional political parties no longer representing anything culturally in their lives.

Lotsa DM’s asking what people can do to hold Smith to account…
Anyways, on an unrelated note, her radio show is back Saturday at 10 AM.
Well just uh…
We’ll just leave this here.

“Bill 11… allows physicians to treat patients in the public health care system while also charging them fees, creating a two-tiered system for those who can pay and those who cannot.”
Over 50 organizations have written to Ottawa to urge enforcement of the Canada Health Act.
When Edmonton cops did a sweep (ie: stole & destroyed property of dozens of unhoused people, I did a print fundraiser for Bear Clan. They made sure people had replacements. They are street level helpers. Support them if you can.
And FFS "they were overjoyed to have shelter" is such an indictment.
They are literally making it up as they go along. When they don't like the outcome, the Smith government rigs the process.
It's a worrisome pattern for those who care about procedural fairness and institutional forebearance.
You know, real conservatives.
A black and white Boston terrier, sitting on a wooden deck, directly facing the camera. He wears dirty paws and a look of profound disdain at being denied digging up the garden.

post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet
(I told him he had to stop digging in the garden; he did not take it well)
My ghetto pho™️ is a staple for me; frozen veggies to boil, couple tsps of stock, bean paste, chili oil, instant noodles, and crack a couple eggs in there. Perfection!
There’s a lot riding on the industrial carbon price and a functional national credit market - the only pillars of serious climate policy left in Canada.
Means Govt of Canada cannot cave to Alberta’s misunderstanding of what they agreed to in the MOU.
Effective industrial price of $130 or bust
this is why I would simultaneously make a very bad pope and a very very good pope
come on God, pope me up, put me in the game; we can have two popes, we've done it before
we could play good pope/bad pope on trump & co

Artists are a necessity. Even the fucking phone you use to trashtalk artists is design by an artist.
We work our ass off in an unfair world only to be able to go back home and enjoy the stories and dreams they shape. They're hope and that's why they're often a target.
Because this kind of lunacy—pure lies to prop up the fossil-fuel system—started over a decade ago and elicited virtually no outrage from any mainstream media outlet (the opposite, in fact) it is clear that climate denial is what introduced disinformation into our political discourse.
This means…
