Being a writer is arguing with your character about the plot till midnight… and then letting them do whatever they want anyway.

Wrote it. The time-travel story about a scientist who can’t fix the past. Needs editing, sure — but I did it. Again.

Yes! I love that too.
At first glance, Starship Troopers and Stranger in a Strange Land seem worlds apart.
But they’re really one conversation:
Responsibility and love — two sides of the same maturity.

I once heard you're “supposed” to start with short stories before daring to write a novel. Cute. Some of us just jump into the deep end and stay there. Others thrive in tiny, sharp bursts. No sacred rulebook here. Write where your chaos feels right.

We all make mistakes. The idea of “going back and fixing everything” powers countless stories — it’s tempting to think we could choose better, change it all…
But our mistakes are experience. They made us who we are. Change the past — and you change yourself.
I wouldn’t go back

I’m not afraid AI will write books and steal my readers. Honestly, I barely have readers now—I don’t even promote myself.
But I won’t quit writing. Not because of AI, not because of numbers. I write because I love making up stories. That’s the real joy. The rest? Just details

Exactly! Couldn’t resist throwing in a little Francis twist 😅
Zelazny, Heinlein, Asimov, Simak… and then there’s Dick Francis 😅 Who saw that coming? Classics shaped me—or am I just hilariously old?

They say every story is about its author. I used to deny it — how could my life resemble characters chasing adventures or darker fates? Yet the writer’s voice always slips through: our values, our vision, our truth. That’s what makes each style truly unique

Any story can be told in different ways: as a romantic tale through the heroine’s eyes, or as an adventure through the hero’s. It all comes down to emphasis.

It’s hard for me to open up in real life. I smile, joke, chat about the weather—but the truth? That goes into my novels. My characters carry my voice, my fears, my values. That’s where I’m real—that’s my way of speaking to the world.

Once, in a review, my ultra-responsible, world-saving heroes were called super-hyper-extra slackers.
Okay… maybe a tiny bit 😅
But still… they saved the world! 🌍✨

Keep messing with mythology in my stories—Merlin as a raven, Arthur far from canon, Norse gods flipped, Egyptian gods with amnesia in sci-fi. Thank goodness for the internet—otherwise I’d be forever lost in dusty library stacks! #AmWriting #WritingCommunity #Mythology
Writing fact: it’s always easier for me to write in the first person as a guy. Oddly enough, I’ve never done it as a woman.

I've met many of them back then, on AT. One smart aleck once gave me a 'compliment': Despite being written in first person, I actually liked your book.
Wow, bro! Thsnk you so much!
Oh, yeah! This is it!
Of course, no problem! I’d love to see more of your work — where can I check it out?
I really appreciate your offer! I’ll remember it if the time comes
I’ve considered that idea, but right now it’s not something I can take on.
Yes, the one in my feed is AI. But I also have a pencil sketch of my own (not great 😅) and one by my daughter, who’s much better at it. Haven’t shared them here, though.
That was my first story and my daughter was my first reader. Now I have four books about him, but they still wasn't translated into English.
My heroes always make it out alive. Not out of kindness—just self-preservation. When my daughter was 12, she swore she’d leave home if I hurt Archie. Nearly 20 years later, I’m still not brave enough to test her.

Seems like everyone’s giving writing advice—even those on their very first draft. So here’s mine, straight from writer-slacker #1: Start writing. Just write the way you can. Finish the draft. Edit later! ✍️

"Ah! That fragile, perishable item — the truth.
When it surfaces so quickly, there is usually a claustrophobia and circumstance."
— Roger Zelazny, Sign of Chaos

Writers put words on the page, but readers bring them to life. They find meanings we never knew were there. While stories are read, they live—and so do we.

Others build characters.
Mine kick down the door: “Hi, I’m Tim. I am who I am—and I’ve got a story to tell.”

They say first-person POV equals bad writing. But I wonder… does the lens through which a story is told really define its quality? Zelazny, Simak, Conan Doyle would disagree. Perspective shapes the story, not its worth.

A book doesn’t really begin with the first line—or even the idea. There’s always a spark before that. A phrase overheard, a song, a dream… You never know what will nudge you toward this story. Magic? Something like that.

Someone on TikTok claimed writers should start socials the same day they start their first draft. Oops—I’m 12 years and 10 novels behind. Still, it’s never too late to join in ✨
