So excited for the April Reading League Summit! Timely topics will be discussed, including language building, knowledge vs comprehension and others
I am loving this blog post today. "Our “rigorous” lesson plans weren’t just rigorous – they were skipping crucial steps in language development and comprehension." I see this everyday in classrooms. righttoreadproject.com/2024/12/07/t...
So glad! We’d have rushed shipped it if we knew you were so excited to start!
Thank you!
CKLA would be so much better if they incorporated writing instruction such as ThinkSRSD. As a tutor, I use CKLA and CKHG texts within the ThinkSRSD framework. We develop knowledge by developing our analytical skills and learning how to express new understandings = structured writing every day.
ThinkSRSD Fall 24 Thread II (second class of upperclass people):
The big ThinkSRSD thread, Fall 2024, as told by my students.
-I remember really struggling when writing the pre-assessment. I was in a perpetual state of writer's block. Now my writing flows much more naturally, because I have learned that academic writing depends a lot on a pre-writing plan.

Evidence-based practices in the hands of great leaders = 📈 for kids!
Beautiful study! Teaching students to be Brave Spellers by learning how to use phonetic spelling (or invented) raises so many literacy outcomes. Also just sounds fun!

Great things are happening in @LimestoneDSB. Teachers and students are working hard implementing and learning the thinkSRSD approach to writing. We are excited to see where we will go this year. @leslielaud.bsky.social
