Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.

RFK Jr. just said that immigration is to blame for the outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in the U.S., not him.

Simple rule: the Senate should not confirm any appointee to any post who can’t say clearly who legitimately won the 2020 presidential election. Not just who was “installed”, but who won the vote and the electoral college.

Congress thinks my college is failing on antisemitism. My Jewish students disagree A new House report on campus antisemitism seems to have involved minimal engagement with actual Jews at actual universities

"Campus antisemitism is a genuine problem that has, since the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023, been manipulated by the American right as part of a sustained effort to delegitimize universities. Jewish students are not the constituency this campaign is designed to serve." forward.com/opinion/8197...

It’s critical to note that this clip should be taken as evidence that Trump is (obviously) taking cuts of the funds being used to build his new white house ballroom, the arc, etc

More NYC landlords threatening tenants with calls to ICE, lawyers say Attorneys told a City Council hearing that tenants need more protections.

"Ibrahim Ramoul, a housing attorney with the [Make the Road NY], told councilmembers he’s seen a 'worrying uptick in landlord harassment & threats to tenants related to perceived or actual immigration status' ... requesting that the Council pursue remedies to deter landlords from harassing tenants."

I don't think non-Black people understand how much Black people calculating spaces as to whether they'd be hostile to Black people.

It's the same way I think men don't understand that women navigate spaces thinking about whether or not they'd be safe

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is using official press releases to message that Westerners (they mean white people) are superior to people from the Global South (they mean non-white people). This is a dangerous, backwards position for our government to take.

/also, "murdered .. to death"?

This would be a perfect excuse for Mamdani to provide leadership and issue a demand to NYC hospitals that have withdrawn from gender care for youths.

It will be extremely interesting to see what institutions like Fenway Health and NYU Langone do now. The ostensible reason for their ending of youth gender care is now gone - will they resume care for all the trans kids they abandoned?

i feel comfortable suggesting that our nation's top health official is not just setting a horrible example for kids, but is also illegally compensated and influenced by the tobacco industry to participate in viral marketing stunts.

nearly all of these MAHA influencers are being compensated by tobacco companies, and very few disclose it. in many cases, they are marketing to children. nicotine pouches harm child brain development.

I for one cannot believe the Trump administration keeps fucking over its high-profile female appointees, it’s almost like aligning yourself with people who hate you based on your identity will ultimately backfire? Can’t be right

Has Target made any kind of public statement about false arrests based on incorrect facial recognition software? Such as “we’re sorry and we won’t do that anymore” or similar?

No, we are not doing “Jewish deicide” on Bluesky, the Nostra aetate settled this decades ago.

The Roman authorities, with the support of local oligarchs, killed Jesus. There’s no “blood guilt on all Jewish people” (or on Italians).

The Adversus Judaeos bull is literally 1600 years out of date.

A vertical screen print style poster in red, yellow and black, featuring the quote by Dom Helder Camara: "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist." The edges of the poster show a packed village with small houses, and a road leading to skyscrapers in the far background. A red sun in the upper right shines its long yellow rays across the image.

Beyond it being exciting to see an important policy being made real in NYC, the other groundbreaking thing about Mamdani loudly and doggedly supporting universal childcare is that it's not coming from a woman or even a parent. It's being championed by a childless man.

"holy shit! you were censored for believing in God?"

LOL no, not that

"for thinking it's appropriate to observe religious holidays in the workplace?"

haha no not that

"Which religious beliefs, exactly?"

oh, you know the ones

If you want to criticize someone for being an evil hypocrite, you can just call them “evil hypocrites”! You don’t need to use an archaic word for rabbinic Jews as a synonym for ‘evil hypocrite’!

Dude. Christian conservatives (& Christian liberals!) using “Pharisees” as a shorthand for evil / hypocritical / tyrannical is “just how they talk” BECAUSE of antisemitism. Antisemitism was so embedded in Christian rhetoric for centuries that you all see it as “normal” religious language.

3 days ago 401 59 4 3

I promise that, no matter you want to say about people you dislike, you can just use an adjective that actually describes their negative behaviour instead of calling them a Pharisee. You are not a Catholic priest in the Middle Ages trying to incite an Easter pogrom.

3 days ago 337 41 1 0

Perhaps this will clarify matters for you? The New Testament does not depict the Pharisees as running newspapers in ancient Israel. The characteristics typically attributed to Pharisees by Christians are unrelated to whatever Hegseth is complaining the media is doing. He means Jewish.
