Great article. I want Bluesky to succeed. But (apart from possibly #TheTraitors), UK popular culture and sports really hasn't hit the ground running here at all.

The likes of @arseblog.com have made it work, and fair play to them, but they are the exception to the rule unfortunately.

F1 has decided to use April Fools Day by announcing a three-race format for F1 Academy in Montreal and Austin.

An Opening Race, the Reverse Grid Race and Feature Race.

Nothing about the press release indicates that this is an April Fool... 🤔

The safety issue needs fixing, we're lucky that the Bearman incident didn't happen elsewhere.

Seeing cars decelerate through 130R to that degree just feels... weird. And not F1.

I don't normally read everything you write (no particular reason), but thought this was excellent.

I said a few weeks back that the new regulations were an overall + for me. Right now... I'm leaning slightly the other way.

The thing that baffles me about the Max Verstappen / The Guardian issue is: did no one on either side have the foresight to reach out to the other during the off season to clear the air?

The F1 paddock is a small world and I'm just surprised this wasn't smoothed over before Japan.

World's longest coastal path opens in England to the public The King Charles coastal path will allow walkers right of access to the entire coast for the first time.

This is absolutely brilliant. Instigated by Gordon Brown, delivered today. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Proud of you, Scott ❤️ I went through the process nearly two years ago now and don't regret it one bit. Same outcome as yourself, also not a surprise to me as a fellow TV nerd. 😆

Is Dubai's glossy image under threat? Not everyone thinks so The city has been considered a safe haven by expats, tourists and influencers - but that's now being tested.

This piece should surely have a disclaimer that its author and interview subjects risk jail time if they write or say that things are bad www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Newly unearthed Nigel Farage videos reveal support for rioter, neo-Nazi event and far-right slogans Exclusive: Analysis of more than 4,000 of Reform UK leader’s paid-for Cameo videos also shows they contain misogynistic remarks and antisemitic conspiracies Nigel Farage has sold videos in which he endorsed a neo-Nazi event, repeated extremist slogans and supported a man convicted over his involvement in a far-right riot. The videos are among several highly questionable clips identified by the Guardian in an investigation into the Reform UK leader’s use of the personalised video platform Cameo. They include videos in which he repeats a motto associated with the UK far right, references antisemitic conspiracy theories and makes misogynistic remarks about leftwing politicians – including a comment about the US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s breasts. Well worth ten minutes of your time, this. Good and balanced piece covering the different perspectives on F1 2026.

PS - I obviously don't expect either race to take place later in the year. But I found the wording interesting nonetheless.

Yeah, I fully agree. Just found the wording interesting.

...except the press release says "will not take place in April", and never uses the word "cancelled".

Contractual?

Confirmed: F1 #BahrainGP and #SaudiArabianGP "will not take place in April."

Note that the press release does not use the word 'cancelled'.

To be fair, the 2022 regulations did yield that to begin with the Verstappen and Leclerc squabbles. And then it went away.

100%. I think the Superclipping absolutely rubbed people the wrong way and it's extended towards anything battery related. I think it's way more interesting than DRS.

And remember - This, right now, is the worst these regs will ever be.

I feel like people are being dismissive of the new formula far too early.

Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Is it better than DRS? Absolutely.

Had today's race had DRS, I could imagine Russell doing a drive by to lead, with no room for response, or Russell being stuck in 2nd most the race.

Interesting, thanks for the response, Luke. 👍

Luke, out of curiosity, does the question "why?" follow this specific question?

From the outside some of the movements are difficult to explain (Badenoch jumping up), and having context outside of the high level numbers would be useful. 👍

F1 through the decades.

2010s - DRS plays a key role in the race outcomes.

Australia 2026 - Energy management is the name of the game.

So which one of these is really 'real racing'?

F1 has always been about management and strategy since day 1.

Today's race was good. 👍 (2/2)

F1 through the decades.

Australia 1986 - Tyre issues dictate the outcome of the championship.

Hungary 1998 - Different refueling strategies dictate the outcome of the race.

Austria 2001 - Four drivers stall on the grid due to launch control issues.
