I spoke with @alexjn.bsky.social @motherjones.com about the Trump admin's "casual relationship with truth." Maybe I need to learn to be more discrete?? 🤔

What if one of the most powerful climate solutions isn’t technology—but conversation? This week in Talking Climate, we're talking about hairdressers inspiring climate convos, war supercharging emissions, and more positive content creators to follow. Read on!
Receiving the Grawemeyer Award for book States and Nature has to be one of my best professional memories.
I talked to @grist.org about how diesel fuel prices are quietly costing the USA billions, thanks to its war on Iran. Based on our new Iran War Energy Cost Tracker at

"The war has cost the U.S. economy roughly $17 billion solely by increasing prices for gasoline and diesel fuel, the estimate finds. These higher prices have cost each household about $129 on average." - @climatesollab.bsky.social: heatmap.news/energy/iran-... via @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social 🔌💡
Sen Foreign Relations Committee - Dems tweet about the extra cost of gasoline and diesel due to the war in Iran

New: the Iran war is driving up gasoline and diesel prices, already costing American households $130 each (on avg), a total of $17 billion -- and it's rising fast.
Imagine if we'd spent that on clean energy instead?
Check out our real-time updating Iran War Energy Cost Tracker
New: the Iran war's price increases on just two products, gasoline and diesel, has already cost American households $130 each (on avg), a total of $17 billion -- and it's rising fast.

Where will Americans live in a climate-changed future?
Thank you to Dr. Jesse Keenan for joining us yesterday to discuss his recent book, North: The Future of Post-Climate America, and discuss how climate migration is already reshaping cities, markets, and politics across the country. 🌎
SCOOP: Alabama might be the first state to ever ban new solar farms.
Why? People are upset about a gigantic solar project that would power a Meta data center.
Turns out when you tie solar to data centers, it can quickly become less popular!
Here we are again. In 2022–23 Europe spent €800bn subsidising fossil fuels to keep energy bills down.
Imported fossil fuels mean volatile prices. The real solution is not new suppliers but a shift to clean energy.
This news from the Pacific is part of a trend: Climate change is going to be bad for ex-military bases around the world, many of which are former US bases with toxins

Pleased to be quoted in today's @nytimes.com, supporting their reporting on the Iran war with a China angle: “China’s push for renewable energy is not motivated by the environment but by the need for energy security and also as a driver of growth.”

President Macron making the case for renewables in light of the US-Israeli attack on Iran,
"Everything we do to move towards transition is also about reducing our dependence and therefore our exposure to geopolitical risks"
After the Ukraine invasion, Europe's energy prices skyrocketed. Our research @climatesollab.bsky.social showed the excess fossil fuel costs for Europe exceeded €1 trillion. Three years ago we urged leaders to go green on energy faster, for the sake of economic security. If only they had listened!
