This incredible picture was taken on April 13 1985. Danuta Danielsson, a woman of Polish-Jewish origin whose mother had been put in a German concentration camp during the WW2, hit a neo-nazi of the now defunct Nordic Reich Party on the head with her handbag in Växjö, Sweden.

#OTD in 1940, the Katyń Massacre began. The NKVD started the “liquidation” of the Kozielsk camp, followed by Ostaszków (4 April) and Starobielsk (5 April).
4,415 prisoners from Kozielsk were taken to Katyń and shot in the back of the head.

Holocaust survivor Margaret Newman, born Kaufman, #OTD March 29, 1923, in Satu Mare, Romania. The Kaufman family remained in Satu Mare until 1944, where they were forced into the Satu Mare ghetto, before being put on a train to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
