BOB DYLAN’S SIX BOOKS: THE MONUMENTAL MASTERPIECE
Of the six books written by Bob Dylan, Lyrics is the most important.
It illustrates just why so many regard Dylan as a towering creative genius.
Every Dylan home should have one. File next to The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare.
I just witnessed an 84-year-old Bob Dylan captivate an audience of 3,000 men, women, and children for 90 minutes straight. No phones, no cameras. Mostly deep cuts. I couldn’t for the life of me discern his lyrics at any given moment. He only spoke to the crowd once. No one does it like Bob.
Six scary minutes chronicling a five thousand year continuum of human oppression from the dawn of man to the Mississippi Delta, Bob Dylan's "Blind Willie McTell" is the saddest song written about America's failed promise. This land is our land. This land is condemned. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AIR...
Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”
Video blocked in the US (or at least the Midwest) but this one works. Saw Steve years ago in Detroit, in a high school basketball court, everyone standing, everyone overcome youtu.be/9NTMjw7OhLs?...
Definitely!
Bruce is 76, only 7 years younger than Bob, not quite next generation

heartbreakingly beautiful ...
Meme of Samuel Beckett using the photo of him taken by Jane Bown, just his b/w face top left against a black background. He says “I can’t go on”. Then, on the right, Mrs Doyle from Father Ted says “Ah, go on”. Then, below left, Beckett says “I’ll go on”
So, happy 120th anniversary of Samuel Beckett’s birth to all who celebrate
Celebrate today ...
Front cover of the Belfast Agreement signed by all the people involved
Happy Birthday Good Friday Agreement! 28 today. A truly historic piece of work because of which an entire generation here has known nothing but peace. It hasn’t been perfect but we’re a world away from what went before. Eternally grateful to all concerned #history #NorthernIreland
This is how Bruce Springsteen opened his concert in Los Angeles last night. 🔥🔥

What if all the richest people in the world were reading sweeping social novels of the late 19th/early 20th century instead of Tolkien
"Señor, señor, do you know where we’re headin’?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon?
Seems like I been down this way before
Is there any truth in that, señor?"
I'm sorry to everyone under 60 but being being crippled with existential dread over a criminal President's disastrous prosecution of a war of choice WHILE ALSO being rapt in childlike wonder over an historic moon mission is something the boomers did first.
Awesome good news in a bad time.
"All we say to America is, 'Be true to what you said on paper.'"
These words — spoken by MLK Jr. shortly before he was killed on this day in 1968 — ring just as true now.
Let's honor his legacy by continuing the fight for social and economic justice.
or the full Litany of the Saints 😬
The nuns of my childhood taught us that all of humanity was divided in two groups — Catholics and pagans. They would've ignored any such heathen service.

Annual reminder: don't spray spring dandelions with roundup or similar chemicals. One flower can be visited by 100+ bees in a day, and your chemicals will kill all of them.
I think that's Chairman Mao in the swimming pool
proving yet again that death is not the end
At least one thing is right in the world.
There's a Bob quote for just about everything
wow ...
Rise up, all ye, rise up
