My grandma was in my dream last night. She was with me and my mom and dad. She kept putting slices of pizza on my dad’s plate so he’d have enough to eat.

If I stop to think more about my family, I will lose it.

I'm surprised he referred to us as a civilization to begin with. I thought we were supposed to be uncivilized...

“A whole civilization will die tonight” is the most vile thing a US president has ever said, certainly during the post-1945 era when they’ve had the power to kill civilizations with the dropping of a bomb. I’m staring into the darkness. May this not be one of the most fateful days in human history.

Trump on Iran: ‘The entire country can be taken out in one night’ | CNN Business During a press conference on Monday, President Trump reiterated his vow to bomb Iran’s civilian infrastructure if they don’t make a deal with the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war stat...

“Entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night”

93 million people live in Iran. That’s larger than CA, TX, and FL combined.

It’s also where my mom is from. Where a majority of my family live. My grandma. My aunt (my kindred spirit). My uncle. My cousins. 🥺

I found a book on a country in Middle East, where the cover art uses famous arabic script, but in a way that's literally gibberish. It's just so cringey!

ICYMI my solo article on MENA identity.

When MENA Americans aren’t given a “MENA” option on forms, they answer identity-related questions on politics more strongly (eg higher end of the scale) than if“MENA” had been added.

Having the group label or not changes the average response!

One of the hardest nowruz’s but we are still here and celebrating. That’s our resilience.

Has your spouse asked you to be their Patrick for St Patrick’s day? If not, you should start a fight with them! 😤

Reading books is so profound because it denies you the ability to speak when confronted with an idea. You must listen. It isn't a conversation. Sometimes it shouldn't be a conversation.
Sometimes we should just listen.
& st listen.

I really wanted Ryan Coogler to win, but I also feel excited to see what else he creates. 🧿 We’re still going to analyze the heck out of it during seminar on Wednesday!! 🔥

Obviously a broad strokes statement… but still thought it resonates in its own way too.

I can’t remember where I heard this but someone was analyzing Jordan Peel and Ryan Coogler. They said Peel showcases “the horrors of being Black” while Coogler showcases “the joys of being Black” (and also how their different backgrounds probably contributed to that). Tried finding it but couldn’t!

Well I’ll admit that I do think PTA is a great director and I was surprised to learn he’d never won an Oscar before! Here I was thinking, “another one for him?” ops!!

I assigned sinners for my course on racial formation this week. I hope they win so I can feel like a genius professor who planned this ahead of time.

I know no one is in the Nowruz spirit this year. But that’s exactly how the regime continues to win, by beating down our spirit. We need to try our best not to let them win.

Sometimes it is kind of a shame we only work with students only one semester. I have had the absolute privilege of working with a handful of students for the entire year, and it's been so crazy cool to see their thinking take shape over that time.

My grandma’s apartment building has burned down. Fortunately she’s safe, and we can help her. But so many people in Iran are so poor and don’t have anyone. This regime propagated their misery for years. They funded terrorism globally while Iranian people go hungry.

My partner is in the Metropolitan Opera Chorus, and we both agree opera has work to do to broaden its appeal.

However, these companies also employ hundreds—sometimes thousands—of employees, many of whom are unionized.

Both artistically and politically, Chalamet’s point is a horrendous one.

My yoga instructor is Iranian. She has always a bit cool toward me since I started attending her classes. Like doesn't say hello, no smiles. Totally fine! She's a serious person!

Yesterday, when we saw each other, we ran toward each other and hugged.

This is what it means to us.

Expressed* purpose or not, their aim was to stop dictators. We see that as ok but not this? Is it only noble when it’s the west but not when it’s Iranians?

The regime killed more of its own people in the last month than this attack. Your post seems to imply you care about Iranians but without condemning the regime your statement reads as more ideological than humanitarian.
