My favorite scene from the Bible
Posts by Egils Robs
After having a few cats and dogs throughout my life now, I know it’s impossible not to think about how they will leave us sooner than we’d like. But when that happens, I just go and pet them to enjoy them now, so I don’t have any regrets that I didn’t do that enough while they were with us.
We have three more cats and two dogs remaining in our household. We still miss our favorite kitty, but we still need to attend to the remaining animals. The dogs don’t seem to be affected, but the dynamics between the cats have changed. One of the remaining cats is a sister of the kitty that passed.
Well said! I was going to quote exactly this section of the podcast about Orban conceding. Now, I don't have to!
“If you do not concede elections, the very foundation of democracy does not exist.”
@profgalloway.com explains why Viktor Orbán's concession is his win this week.
Petty! Honestly, I don’t care if they did, do, would do, or didn’t do, don’t to, and won’t do. I have no interest in learning about their personal lives.

You can tell me. I'm a doctor.

79.5% of the Hungarian electorate turned out to vote out Victor Orbán and elect Péter Magyar in a landslide!
This is extraordinary on many levels, but the biggest thing is that Orbán and his party were in a minority all along.
Orbán lost.
I won't let the sun go down on me!
Name that tune!
Tipping at the point of sale, before I pick up my own food from a delivery window, should be called “don’t-split-in-my-food-please” bribe.
It's not the best for your mental health to check 401 (k) balances right after returning from vacation...
We are vacationing in the Bahamas. We found a nice, quiet beach. We were enjoying our time until a group of people brought speakers, and we had to listen to the music they like loudly!

I carried a watermelon.
Rand Paul said in an interview that he won't vote for Mullin, but some Democrats would.
After what happened, how did he know? Was it all staged just for the show?
I am the last guy to introduce conspiracy theories, but this bugs me, considering Paul’s interview.
We lost our favorite cat a couple of days ago, and it is still hard to cope.
However, Sofija made a great point about it.
It is supposed to be hard if you had any kind of affection for your beloved pet. And if you didn't, why bother having a pet.
She is right!
I kid you not - the technical problem with the airplane I was on was resolved by - ready for it? - shutting off the engines and turning them back on.

Biology. When a man and his family are having a baby, he’d still perform at the highest physical level any time during pregnancy and immediately after (not his but his partner's), whereas it’s not the same for women carrying a baby, and there is no way around that.
Three letters on vehicle license plates were not random but indicated which Soviet republic the car was registered in.

In the opening scenes, the scientist was feeding the cat human food because there was no specialized pet food in the USSR. All house pets were fed the same food as the owners or table scraps.

Producers didn’t try to exaggerate one way or another for the sake of entertainment and better ratings. This was confirmed in the interviews they gave. Just two examples that I remember and are easy to explain.

However, if you are interested in similar topics, I recommend the TV series Chernobyl. As someone who grew up in the USSR, the series portrayed life there as authentic as I have ever seen in Western media, including documentaries.

I didn't, but I looked up and read what it's all about. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!
Technically, you are right, but I think you are picking on semantics here.
My main point was about advocating for voter suppression. I don’t like what’s happening in politics lately, but I am against voter suppression regardless of whether I like the outcome. Outcome is not the cause, but a symptom
I agree, and I considered calling out the OP on this point as well. That’s most likely how well-meaning heads of state ended up becoming dictators: they assumed or were convinced they knew better than others for the state and began oppressing their critics.
What you are suggesting has happened many times in history, when well-meaning heads of state set out to implement reforms aimed at helping the country in all earnest, but eventually led to autocracy and dictatorship, oppressing and suppressing the voices of opposition.
