Pity about the price gouging by the petroleum industry. This needs government intervention before already struggling Aussies and our transport companies go broke.

Same in SA, my last job was visiting homes repairing pc's. Elderly resident overjoyed that Uniting Care purchased the unit block where she lived. She exclaimed, rent went down, replaced worn out floor coverings and made small repairs the first time she asked. Why is gov housing in such bad way.

Since the mid 1990s, Norway has imposed a 56 per cent "special tax" for oil and gas companies, alongside a 22 per cent corporate tax rate.

Australia could learn a lesson from this and make companies pay their fair share for our natural resources.
