Keir Starmer first UK PM to join EU leaders' meeting post-Brexit The trip is part of what the PM calls a "reset" between the UK and the European Union.

"But such a scheme will sound to some rather like freedom of movement...and so may be a hard sell for the UK politically."

OH NO, the right to live, work, study, & retire freely across 31 countries – no need for visas or permits. HOW AWFUL! πŸ™„

Good morning all! β˜•οΈ

This morning, I have a request.

I’m excited about the pro-EU community rebuilding on Bluesky with so much energy happening here. It’s *perfect* for what we need to be doing in 2025.

Therefore, could you please follow these local pro-EU groups

…and yes, I will make a list.

British food exports to EU β€˜have fallen Β£3bn a year since Brexit’ Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy report finds trade flows have shown no signs of returning to previous levels

The Brexit Curse

British food exports to EU β€˜have fallen Β£3bn a year since Brexit’.

Border checks, lower standards on pesticides, veterinary drugs, animal welfare make UK exports harder.

Brexit costing UK economy about Β£100bn a year.

Rejoin EU.

Americans Who Want Out Some liberals insist that they’re not joking this time: They are very scared, and very ready to leave the country if Donald Trump is reelected.

Portugal D7 Visa: Essential 2024 Guide To Apply Successfully | Digital Γ‰migrΓ© Everything you need to know about the Portugal D7 visa from the experts, including the benefits, the application process, and the latest requirements.

Portugal's D7 visa is one of the best pathways for US retirees wishing to gain a foothold in Europe.

Here's my recently updated guide:

P.S. Remote workers need the D8, similar requirements but higher income required.

How are you 'enticing' them, Denmark? Are you offering them a fast track pathway to become full members of the EU?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

The status of the D7 visa is fully operational. It's one of the fastest pathways into Portugal these days (much faster than the Golden Visa). To apply for citizenship you need Portuguese at A2 level. Processing is currently taking 1-2 years after you apply (due to backlog).

We saw similar spikes in post-Brexit & the 2016 election, plus again in 2020 when there was a risk of Trump being re-elected.

Speaking from experience (I moved to Europe specifically to regain my EU rights), emigrating is an extremely empowering move – when you'd otherwise feel utterly helpless.

Madeira – exactly where I am right now ;)

Forget about 'jus sanguinis' – not everyone has that happy option (and we can't go back in time and change our ancestry).

Instead consider emigration + #dualcitizenship via residency.

(and you get to escape America too πŸ™ƒ)

1 year ago 3 0 0 0

Not everyone has this option, but luckily several EU countries offer a path to citizenship by residency. 5 years min timeline. #Portugal #Luxembourg #Czechia #Belgium #France #Ireland #dualcitizenship

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

This is certainly worth looking at. But if you don't have any suitable ancestry, then don't lose hope. Emigration + #dualcitizenship by naturalization is another option. In several EU countries, the timeline is 5 years of residency before you can apply.

Lots of chatter about emigration from the US.

Here's my take: πŸ‘‡

If you have a remote job / passive income then you're in a strong position to apply for "passive income" or "digital nomad" residency visas in a number of European countries.

good luck! it's not perfect here, but it's a darn sight better than Trumpville (or post-Brexit Britain, for that matter!)
