really satisfying to finally set up proper medium-scale sea exports rather than have to rely on tiny barges

You're also encouraged to make use of dirt/gravel roads because none of your vehicles can even reach speeds high enough to make proper use of asphalt. In that same way though, when you eventually start developing things it ends up feeling very satisfying to think back on how things looked originally

The Early Start stuff is really fascinatingly implemented. Starting with steam trains, horse-drawn vehicles and really inefficient combustion-engine vehicles changes how you approach infrastructure and logistics, on top of the extra importance of bricks & boards for construction rather than concrete

it's been Workers & Resources time again for the last week for me. started in 1920 (it's now 1956) so I've been enjoying all the steam trains and stuff

We don't know how much The National were paid to run an ad for nazi TERFs, but I suspect they've acquired a lot of subscribers who are LGBTQ+ or allies.

Time to start cancelling those subscriptions.

We're ten years into this culture war. There are no second chances.

Go fash, lose cash.

that's my postal vote done and posted. is there any way to get this information to Anas Sarwar so that I stop getting his tedious unskippable adverts everywhere I go online

99% of teens don't post on forums anymore. If you're one of the 1% who do, put this in your signature

today on separate occasions an hour apart, Bluesky has told me that I have no notifications yet and also that I have notifications for every interaction I've ever had (it was showing them as 'new' no matter how far I scrolled back)

Why @why.bsky.team 5mo
Entering day four of "no phone because it broke and I can't get to an apple store", AMA

Why @why.bsky.team 5mo
I left it outside in the sun and when I went to pick it up, it was saying "temperature too high! let phone cool down before using again", and then within a few hours it was gone

Okay, so full transparency. I did dip it in a pool after it said it was too hot. I was told not to do that before doing so, but my hubris said "nah these things are waterproof" and into the swim it went.

I go in the pool when I want to cool down, why can't my phone?

in addition to this I think it's worth bearing in mind that one of bluesky's tech leads once put his phone in a swimming pool because it was overheating then was surprised that this broke it

"bsky users blame every problem on vibe coding"

yeah, dude. if you got a dog to code this website i wouldn't be wasting time asking which of you was the source of each new bug

postscript to this sequence:

5. Bluesky keeps breaking every second day in new and exciting ways

1. people reflexively blame AI for problems because it's obviously harmful in many domains
2. Bluesky (now "entirely AI-coded" acc. to staff) keeps breaking
3. AI is blamed. Devs say no, it's web service issues, scold AI-blamers for their ignorance
4. devs admit it was actually AI code at fault

lol

French guy: Haha. “Ooh, I love to buy Funko Poppe and 326 dolleure gas at ‘obby Lobby.”
