New: A NOAA lab in Hawaii that is connected to the longest-running observation of global greenhouse gas concentrations is slated for closure in August, according to a list of lease terminations Democratic members of Congress shared with @washingtonpost.com.

NOAA Employees Told to Pause Work With ‘Foreign Nationals’ An internal email obtained by WIRED shows that NOAA workers received orders to pause “ALL INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENTS.”

By definition, numerical weather models require international data. The atmosphere knows no geopolitical boundaries: any model that begins and ends at its country’s border is unable to generate reliable predictions until after a weather system crosses its boundaries. Which defeats the purpose!

19 years after I attended the European Course on Atmospheres (ERCA), from which I have many good memories, I'm back in Grenoble🇫🇷 now as a teacher 👴 at the new ERCA course (now only 2 instead of 5 weeks). Very excited to be here!
