“Please, please. It’s too much winning. We can’t take it anymore.”

For grades 1/2: Not enough instruction or practice. Students left to discover too much. Problems too wordy and confusing and very few visuals. Way too much unnecessary teacher prep. My ELs and emerging readers are completely lost. I have to supplement.

#1 way to improve k-5 student outcomes: give all teachers quality curriculum and tools. (Surprise - most teachers don’t have either and spend way too much time each week finding content and photocopying). I can teach or be a curriculum designer. I can’t do both.
