Hey all,
This is a totally DIY event. We’re putting it on in our own time with no funding or institutional support.
Anyone who can afford to pay, please do so that those who can’t afford to pay can attend for free, and so we can pay our speakers!

If you want to present at the DECP conference on ‘Applying Psychology to Challenge Inequity’ it would cost £243 to attend, £119 for accommodation and, £61.50 for the gala dinner (plus travel costs!)
That’s at least £423…to *speak at a conference* on *inequality*

CW: death.
A blog post about the sudden death of my father earlier this year.
I wrote it as an attempt to understand why we struggle so much to psychologically process experiences of death, dying and loss under late capitalism.
Enjoy(?)

Under neoliberalism, only what is measured and (made) measurable is valued.
If there has to be a regulator (still think Ofsted should be abolished), educators need to push them towards measuring factors important for the holistic development and wellbeing of CYP, not just memory tests!

A quote spelled out in white letter beads on a soft pink background reads: “Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change.” – Bob Kerrey
“How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.” George Elliston
It doesn’t need to be loud or planned.
Just real.
A kind glance. A thoughtful word. A pause to care.
And suddenly the day feels different – for us and for someone else.
🧡

Wonderful to collab with so many colleagues on another #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek video
Thanks to all who contributed about why it's so important for children to develop self-awareness and understanding.

A post that may be of interest to those who work with children in EYFS and those in the SEND sector, of course the two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Today ALDI released a sensory range.
I’m looking forward to taking resources to school tomorrow.

Damage to young people caused by corporate schooling and behaviour policies which lack trauma informed, relational approaches is the bulk of my work… something has to give in order for the next generation to succeed
Love this ❤️

A screenshot from the TEPICC Reflexive Practice Group session hosted on Microsoft Teams. There are 6 squares each with a different feminine presenting person from a Global Majority background; each person is smiling.
First TEPICC Reflective Practice Group ✅ what a wonderful evening with such reflexive, open and honest applicants. We can’t wait to meet the rest of you in our other groups - remember there are spaces still available for our last reflective practice session!
Excited to finish the week by joining the Relational Practice: Approaches to Mental Health and Well-being in Schools book launch hosted by University of Sheffield and all the amazing workshops being delivered today, plus listening to some of my colleagues speak about their amazing work #edpsychs
If you create a system in which schools are judged on exam results, academic subjects are prioritised, curriculum is narrowed and zero tolerance approaches are promoted, you're basically creating a system that becomes less inclusive by design.
💡 Thought-provoking ideas on how to talk about neurodiversity without relying on medical/deficit language - a model for us from Sonny Jane Wise in the form of the Neurodiversity Smorgasbord 🤩
How do you speak of difference?
