Trump on dropping the DOJ probe: “We have to find out” why the Fed spent so much money on the building renovation.
Kernen tried (repeatedly) to give him a way to say he’d drop the probe to get Warsh in and Trump is talking about how maybe “Too Late” [Powell] is stealing money.

This is quite a comment from someone who served on the FOMC for nearly four years with Kevin Warsh. He says Warsh failed to project independence at his hearing.
It is objectively bad for democracy that both blue and red states are doing extreme gerrymanders.
But the only feasible solution — a national ban on partisan gerrymandering — has only been endorsed by one party. And it's not the one complaining about Virginia right now.
Democrats did not step back. We fought back. When they go low, we hit back hard. We won Prop 50 in California, reclaimed a seat in Utah, pushed back extremists in Ohio and halted toxic GOP efforts in Indiana, New Hampshire, Nebraska and Kansas. Tonight, thanks to the relentless work of Virginia Democrats, led by Governor Abigail Spanberger, Speaker Don Scott, State Majority Leader Scott Surovell and President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, “YES” won and Donald Trump lost. Virginians spoke with a crystal-clear voice, voting to stop the MAGA power grab and protect the integrity of free and fair elections. This war is not over. Next week, Ron DeSantis is hauling the Florida legislature back into a special session to redraw maps because Republicans know they are on the verge of an epic defeat in November. DeSantis is clearly more interested in illegal gerrymandering than lowering the high cost of living or fixing our broken healthcare system. Right now, nearly 5 million Floridians are facing higher premiums because Republicans failed to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. If Florida Republicans proceed with this illegal scheme, they will only create more prime pick-up opportunities for Democrats, just as they did with Trump’s dummymander in Texas. We will aggressively target for defeat Mario Díaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar, Carlos Giménez, Kat Cammack, Anna Paulina Luna, Laurel Lee, Cory Mills and Brian Mast. We are prepared to take them all on, and we are prepared to win. Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time.”
Hakeem Jeffries puts out a FAFO:
"We will aggressively target for defeat Mario Díaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar, Carlos Giménez, Kat Cammack, Anna Paulina Luna, Laurel Lee, Cory Mills and Brian Mast....
Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time"
Did this mf just say "your body your choice?"
Indeed. Complaints about redistricting are invalid. Republicans did it everywhere and invalidated a Constitutional Amendment so they could do it on explicitly racial lines.
There are two choices: use the same levers of power as Republicans do, or let them win. There is no "principled" opposition.
Meanwhile, in the Polish Sejm, the speaker recently got himself one of those sponge damper pads so that he doesn’t have to waste any time struggling to turn over the pages in his script during votes.
The national GOP tomorrow could easily pass a bill that bans gerrymandering and mandates competitive maps, but they won't. Instead they'll just lean into grievance and self-victimhood.
Oh yeah
But Texas didn't go that route
So the false equivalences are off base
So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
I haven’t read it yet, but CA5 says Texas’s 10 Commandments law is constitutional, 9-8, with three Republican appointees joining the others in dissent.

Incredible shots of the exchange between Rep. AOC and RFK, Jr. at today’s congressional hearing.

this one is funny because i guess "working class" people don't live in richmond or norfolk or suffolk or albemarle or manassas? bsky.app/profile/coll...
it is very funny how these people are so accustomed to essentially bullying democratic politicians that they meltdown when met with appropriate pushback.
in any case, the process to amend the virginia constitution has multiple stages where, at any point, an amendment can be defeated.
Yeah
That editorial board take didn't bother me too much because I trust Powell to decide when the so-called investigation is "well and truly over" (Powell's own criteria for retiring) and Trump's not about to say "it's over"
+ Ed board take on Virginia vote was delicious cope about "sanctimony"
Thing I didn’t have on my bingo card: Dems in light blue Virginia (Harris won by 6 pts) go full throttle on a maximal 10-1 partisan gerrymander while Dems in dark blue Maryland (Harris won by 28 pts) hold firm against drawing lone Republican Rep. Andy Harris out of a seat.

Exhibit A
Everyone knows the way you change the Constitution is to have six people in robes make up a new Constitution as they go along.
And the @postopinions.bsky.social editorial board is tut-tutting about the "sanctimony" lol stay mad
And when will Trump say clearly that he has dropped the "investigation" (which the Post should never report without qualifications)?
Never
So be it
Warsh can wait
Blue areas of Virginia are holding up well for the "YES."
Portsmouth just got done counting. The yes won by 41%.
Jones, too, won by 41%. Spanberger won by 47%.
Norfolk is done too: YES won here by 43%. (Jones won here by 45%, and Spanberger by 52%.)
as it becomes clear that Yes has won in VA and gerrymandering will pass, a message to Republican voters:
you brought this on yourselves
you convinced the most fairness-obsessed, That Wouldn’t Be Fair-minded voters in the country to affirmatively vote to put you in the dumpster
you earned this
