Great story - she published about 10 books without big success. All big publishers rejected her, so she chose a small one, 10 minutes from her home by bicycle. Then The Remembered Soldier came out.

So great to see this on your blog! Daanje is from the same provincial town as I am (1 street away from me), but her scope is much greater. Her next book is one for the ages too: a fictionalised life of Emily Brontë, told in 11 linked novellas. Hope it soon reaches the Eng speaking market as well.
