In a week (Apr 18) our team will present a paper on an AI debugging assistant built into the IDE at @icseconf.bsky.social. It helps in real time: suggests where to set breakpoints and what to check next. Come find us — we'd love to chat!

We’re excited to announce the research our computer scientists will be presenting at @icseconf.bsky.social and @chi.acm.org next week! 🧵 (1/9)
Today I presented a paper in @icseconf.bsky.social I started with this phrase “imagine that you have 10 min to present your paper and the moderator cuts you to 5 minutes that’s how big the cuts in science are in Argentina. I’m here presenting but our public University is on strike”

Congratulations 🎉!
Honored to be recognized as an #ICSE Distinguished Reviewer alongside 29 fantastic colleagues! Beyond the honor, reviewing this year was genuinely fun. My selection of papers was incredibly interesting to read and I learned a lot from them.

Theory-Driven Survey Design • Theory building and survey research are strongly interrelated • Initial theories can be drawn from observations and available literature • An initial theory may be a taxonomy of constructs or a set of statements relating constructs: — For NaPiRE, a set of constructs and propositions was elaborated based on available literature and expert knowledge — For Pandemic Programming, a theoretical model was designed based on related work — The surveys, in both cases, were designed to test the theory (and to potentially extend it)

Three SE.next panels have just been added to the ICSE 2026 programme! DAY 1 – SE.next: In the Agentic Trenches What happens when your newest team member never sleeps, never pushes back, and never truly understands the system? DAY 2 – SE.next: Research in the Agentic Era If AI teammates can run our experiments and replicate our results, and the thing we study is fundamentally changing, what exactly is the researcher’s job? DAY 3 – SE.next: Raising the Agentic Engineer We are still teaching students to write code. Their future employers will hire them to direct AI teammates. Something has to give. Chair: Ahmed E. Hassan, NSERC/RIM Industrial Research Chair in Software Engineering for Ultra Large Scale systems and the Canada Research Chair in Software Analytics at the School of Computing in Queen's University. Full descriptions at Program → Panels on our website. Are you going to miss them? Register for ICSE at https://conf.researchr.org/attending/icse-2026/registration
