Decisive action to break influence of gas on electricity prices Families across the country will be better protected from energy crises, as government moves to break link between gas and electricity prices.

While the Government's intent in seeking break the link between gas and electricity price is the right one, the actual implementation of it as laid out here is unlikely to reduce consumer bills.

You always get a lot of angry replies here if you complain about the Greens blocking solar farms or power grid upgrades. Maybe they should stop instigating pile-ons and start instigating pylons.

BBC today correct Nigel Farage's false claim to Nick Robinson on Political Thinking (13th February 2026) that net migration was only down due to an "exodus" of people leaving the UK since 90% of net migration fall was a fall in immigration. After my 3rd complaint!

Revealed: Mandelson failed vetting but Foreign Office overruled decision Guardian investigation uncovers decision by UK security officials to deny clearance before Mandelson took up role as US ambassador

As well as being a great scoop by Guardian colleagues, this feels potentially very, very bad for Keir Starmer.

I'm seeing some commentary on how the Hungarian election was lost by JD Vance/Donald Trump/MAGA's toxicity etc. But the fact is, the election was lost by Orban, who was Trump before Trump. His messages have run out of steam and the reality that Fidesz created and started believing in crumbled.

Orbán’s 16-year rule over Hungary ends in crushing election defeat The Hungarian prime minister concedes to Péter Magyar, who is set to win a supermajority in the 199-seat parliament.

🚨🚨Impossible to understate the importance of #Órban's defeat for European politics and world politics with an utter rejection of #MAGA as a policy style by the Hungarian electorate.

The world is already shining with new light after the #Hungarianelections. 🧵

This is true. I suspect a lot of SUV branding is in the direction of over classifying as an SUV bc market demand. If it were taxed and regulated perhaps loads of these mini SUVs would rebrand.
I have seen people struggling to get into SUVs but again the large ones, so I take your point

This also true, and it would improve road safety not just road quality. The issue of course is how inefficient a lot of our rail network is. Especially going east to west

I think form factor goes against the midsize ones too. There is a lot of evidence their sheer form adds to severity of any collisions, especially with pedestrians of course, but also with other cars. Ease of access is debatable given how difficult many people find it to get inside them

Happy tenth anniversary to this absolute masterpiece of an opening paragraph in the Daily Telegraph.
