Review Invitation: New Technical Guides. Deadline Monday 16th February
GTG1: Plant, Machinery and Equipment An inventory of common items used in arboriculture, including: (1) chainsaws; (2) hedge cutters; (3) brush cutters; (4) pruning tools; (5) ladders; (6) vehicles and trailers; (7) firewood processors and log splitters; (8) woodchippers; (9) stump grinders; (10) compact loaders; (11) excavators; (12) tractors; (13) mulchers and flails; and (14) pneumatic soil excavation systems, with core guidance and a dedicated section on common factors, such as modifications. GTG2: Supporting Aerial Tree Work The role of someone working on the ground during an aerial operation, including running rigging systems, providing visual guidance for pruning work and de-slinging sections lifted by a crane.
GTG3: Tree Felling and Processing Tree felling and processing operations, including considerations, techniques and methods particularly applicable to arboriculture, such as weight and force calculations, assisted felling systems, and approaches to common situations (e.g. part-dismantled trees and standing stems). ATG6: Use of Mechanised Equipment in Tree Work The use of tree shears, grapple saws and other related equipment, attached to common carrier vehicles/base machines, for cutting and handling sections of tree. In addition, the following guide will also be made available for peer review, due to the extent of recent revisions: ATG4: Use of Mobile Cranes in Tree Work We are now inviting interested parties to peer review one or more of these draft documents and provide comments for consideration prior to publication later in the year.
Please express your interest by Monday 16th February. Those who respond will be contacted with details of the next steps. Reviewers will be provided draft documents and must submit comments within one month.
The Association has developed four new Technical Guides alongside the revision of its existing publications.
