Blackberry canes are near the end of their first season. I really didn’t think they were going to grow as much as they have. Each plant has two primocanes and each primocane has two lateral branches. I keep tipping more branches on the laterals every week. 🌱
The blackberry canes have reached the first trellis wire. The unexpected berry from the original cane is starting to look like a real berry. 🌱
Caterpillars have invaded the blackberry canes and are making Swiss cheese of the leaves. One of them ate my first budding berry! This… will not stand… 🪖
The blackberry canes I put into the raised bed have already begun to flower and shoot out new canes. Might see a few berries in the next few weeks, unexpected! 🌱
Little late on the uptake, still not great at the social medias. 🫠 But our Zither Concert in Hanau had 200 people in the audience, and we were in the German Newspaper. 🎶
Haus Anna an der Stadtmauer in Hanau has the most beautiful garden. I think our back yard needs a tower... 🤔
At Austin Bergstrom waiting for my flight to Frankfurt. Zither Workshops start next Wednesday. Really wish I had a bit more time before the concert to practice this music but it’s gonna have to be good enough. 🎶🤞🏻

Thanks! (Sorry late reply, I’m bad at this 😂). I’m really excited to see how it works out. To be honest I had wanted to plant Raspberries but from what I’ve read they have an awful time growing in the Texas heat.
Very nice! I’ve never grown cucumbers, will they climb the trellis? I always pictured them growing on the ground like squash.
Finished building the trellis into the raised bed this afternoon. Only thing left to do is to let the blackberries grow. 🌱

The raised beds have finally been installed in the back yard and the first blackberry canes have been planted. Next weekend I’ll assemble the trellis, but they won’t really need it for a little while. 🌱
