Went to watch the woodcocks celebrate spring.
Eastern phoebes returned to the yard today. They almost always arrive on April 10, like they have a little bird calendar.
I'm giving an online presentation next Tuesday about my writing and mapping work, as well as last summer's artist residency at Pine Needles. Please tune in! stcroixsplash.org/event/deep-m...
So Minneapolis is paying a French tire company to come here and tell us if any restaurants are good?
NPR airing a segment that is just listing all the movies with the word "Moon" in the title and I guess I'm glad for a slow news day

The 25th of April is a Saturday and seems like a good day for protests calling for the 25th amendment

Water and woods to remind us that the world will always be bigger than people.
A crazy story, seems like I read it in two days!
My ancestors had no real right to come to America but they did, and now I'm supposed to believe the government has any ethical power to say who can be a "citizen," based on birthplace? To be a citizen is to reject such ideas.
My maps are part of an excellent exhibit opening this week in Stillwater. Please join us at the opening reception on Thursday from 6-8!

A neighbor shared this video of a beaver seemingly chasing off a romp of river otters. I'm curious about the interspecies relationship. They don't compete for food but often occupy similar habitat. Wondering if otters prey on beaver kits?
The first few years we lived in this house were the last few years Pete Hegseth was drinking, cheating, and abusing in a house about a half-mile through the woods. He somehow found a way to go downhill from there.
Interesting!
Kinda crazy that he still has antlers

So sorry. Don't let them get you down.
Thanks, man.
