Funniest bit in Monster Hunter is that it being a heavily creature focused franchise made after JP you would think it'd use sounds from it like everything else. Instead it does the funnier thing of sometimes using stock royalty free animal/dino noises or its own prior sounds.

That being said I haven't beat the game yet (although I'm assuming I'm near the end since I'm past the 20 minute mark) so things could change as Japanese games really love to show their hand at the tail end (it works every time)

With all the misery and death present through a lot of Nier the game has basically been this at the end of every narrative beat.

I think it has the same thing going as say Evangelion where the surface level stuff is actually very easy to follow it's just presented in a very deliberately dense way that confuses people who don't fucking pay attention while watching or playing anything.

Nier has been an interesting experience cause I think had I played this when I was 15 when it initially came out I would probably be in the camp of OH MY GOD THIS IS THE DEEPEST STORY EVER but as it stands it's got a really good story that emotionally is effective but I wouldn't say it's super deep.

I'm always in the party of "you made your bed now lay in it" when an entry in a series is bad and that the brave thing is to try to make the rest work even with that blemish but that being said I wouldn't be surprised or against if Bayo 4 (if it ever happens) just ignores 3.

I love Monsterverse Godzilla cause he's very much a "Westerners can only take things seriously with a gritty redesign" take on Godzilla but he's also in many ways the most Godzilla has ever looked like "Godzilla" if that makes any sense.
