You can't stop war by being like "hey did you know war is raping women and killing brown people who did nothing to you?" when that's exactly what people are signing up for.

Exposing the horrors of war during Vietnam worked to radicalize people in the U.S. because they really didn't know. Now, everyone sees it in full graphic detail on our phones daily. It's a severe error to cut and paste tactics from the 60s and 70s onto now.

It also makes me feel like Robert Del Naja getting arrested at a Palestine Action protest on Saturday was mostly a publicity stunt to accompany the song drop. 🫀

Like I said, I didn't listen to all of it, but I'm disappointed. We need antiwar music that encourages people to fight back, and this is no Rage Against the Machine, sorry to say.

The song is about the horrors of war from the point of view of the soldiers perpatrating it and it's graphic and horrible, I couldn't finish it. I'm really not interested in a "war is bad for the killers" perspective and I have not been ignoring the violence so I don't need it set to music.

I loved Massive Attack and Tom Waits in college and I was excited to listen to the song they collaborated on that dropped today, an antiwar song called "Boots on the Ground." I have to say, you may not want to listen to it if you're impacted by U.S. state violence.

Awww. πŸ₯°πŸŽ΅ My autocorrect rewrites aren't so nice, lolol

Honestly, the reason I turned it off is because I feel like autocorrect has started overreaching and choosing entire new words for me and I hate having to read back oved what I wrote to check that the meaning wasn't changed behind my back lol.

With autocorrect, I can type as fast as I can think and I end up spraying whole rounds when a single warning shot would do. Now that typing is annoying again, I'm more careful with my words & say less. You're welcome.

Autocorrect is the automatic weapon of "the pen is mightier than the sword." I turned off both autocorrect & predictive text on my phone & it is painfully slow & frustrating to have to type every individual letter correctly & in order. The extra time ensures that it's what I want to say & no more.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.

Remember how you felt about people defending their neighbors in Chicago, Minneapolis, and other cities around the US? Extend that empathy a bit further, to people Trump is calling animals. It may hurt to stop and think about how much you have in common with those people. That's okay. Let it.

It's not just Iran whose surrender is being demanded. It's yours. Your hope. Your belief in yourself and our collective potential. Your empathy. They want to crush those things. They want you to believe their will is inevitable.

They want you to surrender.

One of the upsides of refusal is that saying "no" to evil and screaming "fuck you, this is wrong, and I will push back any way I can" doesn't necessitate having all the answers.

They want you to become listless and hopeless. They know that's easier for many of us than inhabiting uncertainty.

I get it. I don't do well with uncertainty. But I'm gonna stay here, in this ugly, messy uncertaintyβ€”grieving, refusing, denouncing, and trying to figure out what to do next.

Marketing image of a paperback, ebook, and phone with an ebook on it. The cover is a backdrop of skyscrapers in dark blue and pink. A silhouette of a woman stands looking up at them. Text with computer patterns reads "CyberSnow by A.E. Bross"

Looking for a read w/dual POV between an autistic cis woman & a trans woman, written by a trans enby who decided mixing cyberpunk & Snow White would be a great way to explore found family & anti-capitalism?

I haven't been shopping there but I haven't fully deleted my account yet and amazon keeps repeatedly sending me emails saying "We found Dolls you might like" and look, sorry, it's not that special – I like ALL of them. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Yeah, capitalism supposedly gives us so many choices – until they decide the profit margin on the things we like is too small, and suddenly there's no more dark chocolate at Halloween, no more actual chocolate in Reese's, and all the really great stuff is discontinued. πŸ˜’

I thought I was going to have to find the black market for jelly beans in this town, but finally after four grocery and dollar stores, I was able to grab the last bag from the drugstore. Go figure.

And to the cis folks reading this, it's Buy A Trans Person A Pizza Day in honor of Mira Bellwether, who died because all her visibility didn't translate into getting her material needs met.

I'm @AnjaIsAGirl on Venmo, @sitouh on PayPal, and any money you send will go to feeding a trans woman.

Since @leftlanesmith.bsky.social posted their TDoV thread over here and kindly mentioned me, I should probably post mine here as well.

It's Trans Day of Visibility, and honestly? I'm tired.
