An infographic showing assessment of progress along the clean industrial value chain, including upstream inputs, primary production, manufacturing, and demand side, with indicators on clean energy, carbon management, electrification, circularity, and industrial transition policies (ECNO 2026).

Across 50+ indicators, progress is visible.
But the transition is not yet self-sustaining.

Key bottlenecks remain:
🔸weak demand
🔸infrastructure gaps
🔸limited financing
🔸raw materials supply diversity

EU industry isn’t cutting emissions fast enough. Energy and resource efficiency are improving, but CO₂ drop from 2023 came from lower production, not greener processes. Strong policies are needed to accelerate decarbonisation.

Climate-aligned finance in the EU is moving in the wrong direction – the only area in ECNO’s analysis with a negative trend. Clean energy, buildings, transport and industry need more investment, while fossil fuel subsidies keep growing.
