Photo of a grey, sheer cliff face. The surface looks like it’s comprised of puzzle pieces. Blue sky is visible at the top of the photo.
Coastal hiking in Newfoundland, Canada is a treat for the eyes. Another view (last week) of the seaside cliffs near my hometown in Conception Bay North. #hiking #trail #ediacaran

Image of ANARCHIST ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Special Hardcover Edition by Suzannah Rowntree surrounded by a list of tropes, namely:
- "when is a monster not a monster? oh, when you love it"
- "Dracula x Enola Holmes"
- "intrepid lady's maid"
- "female friendship"
- "locked up with the hungry vampire"
- "zombie policemen"
- "mad science"
Are you here for a bonkers gaslamp fantasy romp set in a version of 1890s Europe where all the ruling families are monsters?
The ANARCHIST ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Special Edition Kickstarter campaign is live now...and it fully funded before I could make this post!

When I see how much water comes out of the ground beef and chicken I cook these days I also have to wonder how much of the weight I'm paying for is real meat, even apart from the packaging.

I mean, the Bible itself says "not a novice" when talking about the qualifications for church leaders, warning that putting newer converts in leadership tempts them to become conceited and arrogant and fall into the same snare as the devil.

Two black and white pictures. The top one shows a big pile of melting snow in a suburban parking lot with a car for scale. It is remarkably close in its general shape to a famous mountain in Iceland, depicted below, called Kirkjufell

That's what interests me, that they could still play it either way. I won't be shocked if future episodes do show that the PM is shady, but he could just be pragmatic and confident in Huiju and I-An's ability to handle things on their own.

OTOH he does know she can handle it and is probably delighted (or at least pretending to be) by all the attention

I have to side-eye him throwing the GP and Hyeju under the bus to distract the public from the minimum wage freeze, but up until that point I was definitely suffering some 2ML syndrome and I could certainly be swayed

A crow is standing next to a melting snowbank and says "I love when the snow starts to melt and all the treasures appear". It hops along and says "Let me show you my collection". We see an assortment of objects at its feet. "54 aromatics nubs, a fine preener, assorted flavour discs, beak lovelies, flim-flams, shiny poke-stick, and best of–wait..." We see a close of of the crow looking over its shoulder "where's my jiggly squibbler?"

"According to the Authors Guild’s most recent income survey, which queried 5,699 book authors in 2023, the median book-related income for traditionally published trade authors was between $15,000 and $18,000."
yep. when writers say we do not make very much, believe us.

Yes, you're right -- the letter may have been be triggered by a claim by S&S as co-copyright holder for those two books which is totally separate from my own claim for those and the remaining non-S&S titles. It's too late to file another claim in any case, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Well, I don't know for sure those works were rejected, I just don't have a confirmation that they are included. I suspect the letter I received was triggered by a claim from S&S for my 2 books that are still in print, while the other 4 were with Harper and Lerner but I hold all the rights now.

And of course now that I've found out there are issues with the claim system it's past March 30th and too late to re-file for those other titles.

I have a very sick feeling now that I'm going to miss out on 3/4 of the money that's owed to me, despite being as early and as thorough as I could be about confirming my books were in the database, checking copyright, and filing.

Due to website glitches, I filed twice for my 8 books eligible for the Anthropic Settlement -- I know bc I received two separate letters about it. I also got a claim code in email. Last week I got another letter, listing only 2 of the books I filed for. What happened to the other 6???
