BONDI: You didn't ask Merrick Garland anything about Epstein

BALINT: Weak sauce

BONDI: And with this antisemitic culture right now, she voted against a resolution--

BALINT: You want to go there! Really? Talking about antisemitism to a woman who lost her grandfather in the Holocaust! *storms off*

The Blogs: Senator Cassidy’s IHRA Crusade Is a Political Stunt, Not a Plan to Protect Jews From the blog of Kevin Rachlin at The Times of Israel

"Senator Cassidy’s letter asks Mayor Mamdani many questions, but here is one question the senator must answer himself: What tangible action has he taken—beyond letters and press releases—to make Jewish Americans safer?"

"Those of us who have previously testified before Congress on this issue know exactly how seriously its Republican members take the fight against antisemitism. Last year, Senator Cassidy’s colleague John Kennedy—another Louisiana Republican who sits on the Judiciary Committee—accused me of “dipping into my ketamine stash” during my own testimony at a hearing on combating antisemitism. This is the same Senator Kennedy who outrageously told Arab American civil rights leader Maya Berry to “hide her head in a bag” at a Senate Judiciary hearing on hate crimes. These are the people lecturing a mayor about protecting Jewish communities? Please."

And this isn't even the first time they've asked for lists of Jews (in the false name of Jewish safety).

The Blogs: Here We Go Again: Why We’re Still Fighting about Antisemitism Definitions From the blog of Kevin Rachlin at The Times of Israel

"Here I am, once again, explaining why codifying a contested definition into law was always a bad idea—not because antisemitism isn’t real, but because there isn’t consensus on a single definition, and the definition some groups keep trying to enshrine has serious problems." @sikevin99.bsky.social

Cutting cancer research is bad for Jews 👏

The Nexus Project's @sikevin99.bsky.social spoke with @aljazeeraenglish.bsky.social about the dangers of Heritage Foundation’s Project Esther and why cutting cancer research is antithetical to Jewish safety.

Democracy and Jewish safety are inseparable, and this bill reflects that." And then it shows a tweet by Jacob Kornbluh, which says "Rep. Jerry Nadler and a group of Democrats introduce bill that would establish a federal framework to combat antisemitism, including safeguarding First Amendment–protected speech and preventing the misuse of antisemitism for partisan or ideological ends."

The attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney today was a vile act of antisemitic terror. I mourn those who were murdered and will be keeping their families, the Jewish community, and the Chabad movement in my prayers. May the memories of all those killed be a blessing.

While we are still waiting for all the facts to emerge, what we already know is devastating. At least 11 dead, including Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who held deep ties to Crown Heights. At least 29 injured. Another Jewish community plunged into mourning and loss, a holiday of light so painfully reduced to a day of darkness. This attack is merely the latest, most horrifying iteration in a growing pattern of violence targeted at Jewish people across the world. Too many no longer feel safe to be themselves, to express their faith publicly, to worship in their synagogues without armed security stationed outside. What happened at Bondi is what many Jewish people fear will happen in their communities too.

On Bondi Beach today, as men with long guns targeted innocents, another man ran towards the gunfire and disarmed a shooter. Tonight, as Jewish New Yorkers light menorahs and usher in a first night of Hanukkah clouded by grief, let us look to his example and confront hatred with the urgency and action it demands. When I am Mayor, I will work every day to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe—on our streets, our subways, at shul, in every moment of every day. Let this be a purpose shared by every New Yorker, and let us banish this horrific violence to the past.

Attacking pre-school teachers because they don’t think Palestinian kids should be bombed to death? Declaring NYC’s first Muslim mayor “our enemy?” Fomenting hatred, even within the Jewish community?

You’re not making anyone safer.🧵

Today, Election Day in many states, should be about celebrating the right to vote and engagement in the democratic process. Stop weaponizing our community as a political football — and stop professing to care about Jews while fomenting antisemitism and attacking our democracy.

Donald Trump has no business telling Jewish people how we should vote — and his constant attacks on Jews who don’t align with his politics and ideology are dangerous and appalling.

FBI Director Kash Patel on X: "James Comey wrote “love letters” to the ADL and embedded FBI agents with them - a group that ran disgraceful ops spying on Americans. That era is OVER. This week, FBI director Kash Patel cut the FBI’s ties with the ADL, calling them an “extreme group functioning like a terrorist organization.”

This is the authoritarian playbook: delegitimize watchdogs, invert reality, and cast those who fight hate as enemies of the state.

CHRISTIAN IDENTITY IS A WHITE POWER THEOLOGY, not just identifying as Christian. Christian Identity believes that white people are the lost tribe of Israel and all people of color and Jewish people are descended from beasts or from Satan. (1)

This administration’s latest attacks—accusing opponents of “terrorism”—are part of a dangerous pattern meant to silence dissent and undermine the rule of law. Our government should enforce the law, not weaponize it. Our safety depends on protecting our core democratic norms.

The ADL has a new survey claiming: "Widespread Antisemitism and Anti-Israel Bias Reported by Faculty in Higher Education."

But it's basically a survey of faculty who already belong to a pro-Israel advocacy group.

Graphic with JCPA (Jewish Council for Public Affairs) logo at the top. Bold headline reads: “Antisemitism is real and rising.” Below, white text on a dark blue background says: “Unfortunately, today’s House hearing on ‘unions & antisemitism’ sought to exploit our community’s legitimate concerns as a wedge to undermine the right to association and to organize—and that does nothing to keep Jews, or anyone, safe.” At the bottom, a photo shows a congressional hearing room with lawmakers seated at long desks.

ADL Musk

ADL Musk

I spoke with 40+ sources for a look inside the Anti-Defamation League. Here’s some of what I found.

ADL’s gentle response to Elon Musk’s infamous salute was partially driven by his support of Israel. To ADL, that indicated he didn’t have “antisemitic tendencies.” (1/x)

DHS used anonymous pro-Israel site to target activists for deportation, agency says in court DHS said at a trial Wednesday that it used a list from the site, which has been accused of doxxing people whom it sees as being anti-Israel and antisemitic.

A senior ICE official admitted that ICE is using Canary Mission to identify students to deport.

Let's be clear: Canary Mission — and its counterpart, Betar US — are extremist groups that do not represent the interests of mainstream Jewish America.

Final vote. 50-50. VP breaks the tie.

One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears.

They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.
