side note it's interesting when i see artists today being like "we should bring patronage back". on the one hand yeah it was awesome to get paid to just write but on the other it's not like i could write whatever i wanted. sometimes the lord chamberlain could be kind of a dick

shocked and appalled to learn i haven't been paid ANY royalties for the usage of my work over the past 408 years!

also—when i wrote the line initially, i wrote "OUR philosophy," and i stand by that because it's a shared moment between hamlet and horatio (who are gay btw) but it's fun to see the way some different productions interpret the line as "your philosophy" so i never correct them
