This is about half of my monthly La Crosse County Board pay, turned into food. The other half? Already donated in the form of food for some of the little free pantries around La Crosse.
As food insecurity grows, even small efforts matter.

Proud to support the Hillview Health Care Center transformation on the county boardānew housing, senior care, crisis stabilization, and intergenerational care. While we invest locally, itās a shame to see federal cuts stripping support from so many. Higher levels of government MUST do better.
Nearly 20,000 La Crosse County residents rely on Medicaidāplus many more around the state and country.
Cuts would devastate care for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Local government is making positive change, even when the state and federal government arenāt.
On the county board, I voted to allocate $2 million towards building a āLife and Workforce Readiness Center,ā a project led by an area nonprofit to help youth find their passions and develop life skills!
I drove to Kaukauna last month to speak to legislators about the need for:
š§ Expanded mental and behavioral health services
𩵠Resources to ensure vulnerable folks are cared for
šļø Efforts to promote affordable housing

Public service is under attack right now.
Thatās why I funded a scholarship at our local tech college to support and recognize future public servants. One young, working elected official canāt fix everythingābut Iāll always stand up for the folks who serve our communities.
It was an eight hour wait, but I was glad to speak to Wisconsinās Joint Finance Committee in Wausau about my constituentsā priorities for the state budget:
šļø Housing and resources to support unsheltered folks,
š§Funds for PFAS testing and remediation, and
šAn education system that works for EVERYONE
Iām proud to stand with my colleaguesāand millions of Americansācalling out attempts to cut Medicaid funding.
One county canāt require the federal government to keep Medicaid funding stable, but we need to raise our voices and ensure Congress knows where our community stands on this.
