Go for a walk. Our brain has this wonderful default system that sorts out problems and organises them into a narrative by itself, all you need is to write it down when you're back. But no writing now!

Flesh out your main character: as the character-driven approach implies, as soon as you have them, the story will basically write itself, because such characters just go in by themselves and take you on their adventure.

Write a movie-style logline (one-two lines featuring the main character, the set-up, and central conflict). See how cool it looks now? Not terrible, huh? Still without real writing.

Talk to a writing partner. They can be your editor, a consultant, a real-life prototype of a character, an expert in the field you're writing about, or even a potential reader. Find out what "terrible" would mean for them and avoid it!

Engage in research: you can't be terrible if there's a real story or a prototype behind your work (yes, even it's a high fantasy novel). Because it's really happened!
(no writing involved)

Think what will happen if you don't write. Remember, you can't move to Romania away from yourself.

Think what's "being terrible" would actually mean. Like, your family stops talking to you; all your keystrokes needlessly contribute to global warming; you'll have to change your name and move to Romania; or, god forbid, you'll get a couple of critiques from your beta readers.

Imagine your best friend writing that book. Play as them: nothing to be afraid of, bc it's not you who's writing, it's them! And your friend's book won't be terrible, because they are definitely better than you, little impostor. Even though they are a plumber.

Skip straight to the scene that's most fun and listen to the dialogue in your head, write it down. Your just taking notes, not writing!

Oh that's my stop. Well, don't start writing! Do this instead:
- throw stickers with ideas and events on a whiteboard (miro or physical). See? You're not writing, you're just making stickers.
