Of 22 sites being held on a waiting list, before designation, 14 were at risk from development. That's 64% of potential SSSI's, and the wildlife living within them, at risk of being lost.

If the Strait of Hormuz opens again, we are back to where we started, just thousands of deaths later and many billions poorer.

And all because there’s a mad man in the White House who we are sending the King to ego stroke next week.

Amazing collection this, of hope over reason. Britain just invested £600m into Rolls Royce’s ‘mini nuke’ program - that was always coming. But here we see it’s being done in the hope that these things can be built faster than the big versions that are slow and always late. Hope.

The Israeli government has granted itself another means to dehumanise, suppress, and kill Palestinians. Israel is violating international law.

UK looks to relax planning rules for factory farms after industry lobbying Exclusive: documents chronicle years-long campaign to make it easier to build intensive livestock units

Just what we don't need. Already, our rivers are overloaded with both human and livestock waste, leading in many cases to #rivercide. Now the government, responding as always to lobbyists, wants to make it worse. Then it wonders why it loses public support. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

If someone says something along the lines of "it's not racist to like ice cream", their statement is true, but there's a 99% chance they're the kind of person who'd somehow find a racist way to like ice cream.

Reaching net zero by 2050 ‘cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits

Awks for Tories & Reform who want to keep us hooked on fossil fuels: new @theCCCuk report shows transition to net zero will cost less than a single oil shock - £4bn a year - as well as delivering health & security benefits

Sad news - our appeal regarding Sizewell C’s secret sea defences has been refused. However, the legal challenge has helped to expose that the project, as approved in the DCO, is not resilient to a credible maximum climate change scenario

Is the UK really leading the world with a nuclear renaissance? Prof Steve Thomas, Greenwich University, assesses the latest efforts of the UK government to expand nuclear power – and highlights numerous obstacles. Responsible Science blog, 16 February 2026.

"The estimated cost of Sizewell at £40.5bn (2024 money) is 70% more than the real estimated cost of HPC at the point of its FID. This makes a mockery of claims that Sizewell would be cheaper than Hinkley because of the ‘learning’ that has accumulated at HPC."

‘Green laws hold up nuclear plans — but we can’t say where’ Despite calling for a reduction in planning protections for the landscapes, the energy department admits it can’t identify any where regulations are a problem

That's because it's 💷💷 & developers that hold up #nuclear, not wildlife: "Despite calling for a reduction in planning protections for the landscapes, the energy department admits it can’t identify any where regulations are a problem"

Oh, and get this "DESNZ also said one of the pieces of evidence underpinning the recommendation [to reduce planning protection] was a blogpost written by a lawyer. That lawyer, Mustafa Latif-Aramesh, also sits on the [#nuclear] task force.

There's a one hour special on Nigel Farage and Reform UK, and whether they are ready to lead, on BBC2

Presumably, there will be a similar one hour special on Zack Polanski, and whether The Greens are ready to lead, as well?

Extremely sad to see the further erosion - Thorpeness is a much loved village on Suffolk's Heritage Coast. Being just a short distance from the Sizewell nuclear complex, it is no surprise that many question the wisdom of building a new nuclear power station, Sizewell C, on this stretch of coastline

Continuing erosion of the coastline in front of the yet to be built Sizewell C nuclear plant
This #Labour government is forcing future generations to protect the Sizewell site & its 4,000 tonnes of spent fuel till the late 2100s despite them having no voice in this decision!
