Sad news - our appeal regarding Sizewell C’s secret sea defences has been refused. However, the legal challenge has helped to expose that the project, as approved in the DCO, is not resilient to a credible maximum climate change scenario

"The estimated cost of Sizewell at £40.5bn (2024 money) is 70% more than the real estimated cost of HPC at the point of its FID. This makes a mockery of claims that Sizewell would be cheaper than Hinkley because of the ‘learning’ that has accumulated at HPC."

Extremely sad to see the further erosion - Thorpeness is a much loved village on Suffolk's Heritage Coast. Being just a short distance from the Sizewell nuclear complex, it is no surprise that many question the wisdom of building a new nuclear power station, Sizewell C, on this stretch of coastline
