I feel like Sun Tzu really missed out on "Invent Pete Hegseth and give him to the enemy"
Posts by Lee Behlman
Nothing has killed more soldiers in the history of humanity than disease. While worst is a more complicated question Hegseth is absolutely the dumbest secretary of defense the United States has ever had. bsky.app/profile/ones...
I'm not sure my French is good enough to understand the full subtleties of Libé's review of the Michael Jackson biopic
They not only won’t cancel; they’ve handed the entire event over to the fascists.
Stephen Miller and Pete Hegseth are sitting at CBS’ table.
FCC’s Brendan Carr has actually been invited, while he’s trying to take away press freedoms.
Congrats to Tim Cook, whose obituary will feature extended quotations from the president's uh praise
A picture of a majestic humpback whale leaping from the seas with the caption “humpback whales are forming super-groups”, rather than simply admire the wonder of nature I am making a poor quality music gag
This is why whale punk had to happen

Trying to write books for everyone seems to me a surefire way of writing bad books. I’m not interested in writing books for twats. I write books for the cool and nice people whose company I know I’d enjoy if I met them in real life. I’m entirely comfortable with twats hating my books. Bring it on.
"Detectives are investigating whether the series of arson attacks in London were planned for weeks with suspects carrying out reconnaissance on the Jewish targets to be firebombed." www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
Also, of course, drug trafficking is not a crime punishable by summary execution even if you disingenuously try to rebrand it as "narcoterrorism."
It's notable that Sen. Ossoff is pressing this attack in a tight re-election fight in a purple state. The rest of the party needs to pay attention.
it is, among other things, incredibly striking to see that roberts was so solicitous of the burden the clean power plan might put on fossil fuel executives, when, a decade later, he is indifferent to the way trump’s moves have thrown hundreds of thousands of lives into turmoil.
Yes, the fact that I'm attending the White House Correspondents Dinner might SEEM like a supine gesture of complete deference to the insane dullard who demands total obedience from the press, BUT that's until you see the secret message I have on my pocket square
i love how he overshoots, pure drama. he can home in on that bat immediately, but he knows the crowd. the crowd wants drama, not efficiency.

Most striking to me about these memos is the radically different assessment of the harm imposed by the president not being able to pursue his initiatives. Over the last 15 mos., that harm has in numerous cases been treated as almost per se serious and irreparable. Here, it gets no analysis at all.
The soulless, sociopathic orange cunt stands in his suit looking bored and devoid of intelligent thought whilst an Oval Office guest is collapsed on the ground behind him. Fellow guests, able to demonstrate more compassion than the pedo protector has ever mustered in his entire miserable existence, are helping the collapsed man. The photo captures the insipid, disdain Trump holds for any other human being not permanently kissing his fat, wrinkly ass. At least today is one day closer to his death.
Congratulations to photographer Andrew Harnik who has won the White House Correspondents’ Association award for presidential news coverage with one of the greatest Oval Office photos ever captured.
"Envoyez le chat !" RIP Nathalie Baye, seen here (in specs) as Joëlle in one of cinema's Greatest Cat Moments, from François Truffaut's LA NUIT AMÉRICAINE aka DAY FOR NIGHT (1973). [cf the same director's LA PEAU DOUCE, 1964; see my book CATS ON FILM]

assuming everyone has already read this but if not: please be advised that the first time I read it I was at my desk at work and I had to go for a little walk halfway through because I thought I was about to die from quietly laughing
I’ll never forget watching The Wicker Man with my outer Hebridean mum. “I just don’t know where there got all that wicker from”
Doorman and building staff may go on strike against building owners in NYC for the first time in 30 years+ next week, and I can say that among apartment building residents, there is a 50/50 divide between "Give them anything they want" and "Give them anything they want, you assholes."
“It is not radical to say that a worker who toils every day cannot make ends meet, that they deserve justice, that they deserve higher wages,” Mejía said Thursday night. “That is not radical, that is good conscience. That is a good economy.”

Cut faculty (or non-replace) so you offer fewer classes so fewer people enroll so you cut faculty so you offer fewer classes so fewer people enroll so then the market has spoken.

I had forgotten about the scene in "The Wind in the Willows" in which Mole, Rat, and Badger confront Toad about his obsession with recklessly driving fast cars. It's not _like_ a present-day planned intervention with a coked-up friend. It very much _is_ that scene. Poop poop!
Same.
