Overall, I think the final could go in any direction, it just depends on what goose wants to say.

I think bubble was a vestigial remnant, a part of Cain that couldn't be changed, and thus now deleted. But it's ambiguous enough that they could be their own indipendant entity, now free to wreak havoc. Could go either way!

We saw in the flashback with the OG crew, scratch was trying to communicate with Caine sincerely, but even then Cain, quite blatantly, wasn't listening.

Good points all round, especially with cain being doomed from the start by his absorption of 'blue'. I think there might be some weight to the idea Bubble has been sabotaging Cain, either as anxiety or a malicious remnant.. But... I don't think anyone could ever get through to him---

I want so desperately to know why he could never "LISTEN!" is it really just that he could never fundamentally comprehend the emotions of others? Only ever the binary of "Happy//Hatefull"? Or did he have a major blockage.. A stray line of code that made empathy impossible.. I want to know!

It was just a shock, as it was an experimental file that messed with loads of settings.. (I remember frequently crashes back in the day.)
Really, it's ultimately an argument for software archiving.. As long as the software version is available, everything should be recoverable.
