Is the official art submission process a good way for artists already working with Wizards to connect with more art directors and keep you up to date on our most current/best work? Or do you all keep an eye on recent releases internally for existing (new to you) artists you might like to work with?

Watercolor painting of a skull with flowers and a luna moth, with the text added "Shop Closed 4/19-5/27"
My website shop will be unavailable from April 19-May 27, while I'm away painting in the UK.
If you've had your eye on something and don't want to wait, the shop is still open and shipping for another week!

Watercolor illustration in a realistic style of a girl tucked under an old fashioned quilt. Her hands on top of the quilt are wrapped in bandages showing stigmata-like stains. She gazes upward in a saintly expression. Below/behind her is a landscape of blue ridge mountains, clouds, and trillium flowers in psychedelic saturated color.
More illustration reveal for the @midworldpress.bsky.social edition of Revelator by Daryl Gregory @darylwriterguy.bsky.social
Watercolor portrait of a young woman in a peach colored medieval gown. She is pale and smiling happily showing off vampire fangs. Innocent and sincere looking, not sinister.
Watercolor portrait of a werewolf wearing a medieval doublet, snarling with slavering jaws wide
Watercolor portrait of a holy woman in blue, white, and gold robes clutching a red book. She has Black skin and long white hair, middle aged, serious intense expression on her face.

A watercolor portrait of a sexy knight in shining armor with a devious expression, slicked back hair, and a few facial scars.
A watercolor illustration of a mucky looking humanoid monster with clawed hands and no face except for skeletal nostril holes and a toothy grin. Its head and body are covered in glimmering threads.

Photo of a plastic spoon dispenser that says “dispensing one spoon at a time can reduce waste 30%” along with a hand written taped on sign that says “spoons are not working at this time-“
Seen in the wild at Wegmans 9 years ago. Yep. “Spoons are not working at this time-“
Watercolor illustration of a dramatic dark castle-like building with glowing green stained glass windows and raven statues in front. Flocks of ravens fly from the building.
"Thirst for Knowledge," one of several interiors I did for @hitpointpress.bsky.social BIG BADS: Most Wanted book. This is part of the current stretch goal to unloack the Big Bad "Cawthorn" on the Kickstarter...we are very close but not quite there yet!

Thank you!
Oh! Sorry to hear it. I’ve never seen this kind of art about migraines, I have one right now, and feel surprisingly encouraged. Didn’t know I wanted that 🩷

I’ve learned to start asking about payment method in advance with smaller businesses.
Not sure if this project was you as a private individual or a B2B type arrangement.
But if work had not started yet- wouldn’t it be fair to say that the invoice IS communication of a final quote and fees?
I think it depends on the relationship. I wouldn’t charge a private collector type client processing fees, that’s a cost of doing business and setting my prices.
BUT I feel that commercial clients/businesses (like publishers) should be able to pay me the price we agreed on via a fee-free method.
Portrait of a surprised looking witch with curly hair and an oversized floppy green hat, holding a magic wand, wearing lots of good luck charms
Portrait of an elderly man with long white hair wearing a big black witch hat and an Elizabethan ruff, with a purple background. He is holding a hairless cat wearing a matching ruff.
Portrait of a young man with brown hair worn up in a bun, wearing a straight jacket, with one arm ripped free, holding a spell book. He has a strange look in his eye with blue magical flames extending from it.
Portrait of an elderly woman wearing exaggerated elizabethan style white makeup with red cheeks and lips, conjuring flame from her hand
I've been having so much fun painting character portraits for Soundbooth Theater's witchy RPG liveplay "Hexperts"! Here are the four player characters revealed so far. The show streams Fridays at 5pm on the Soundbooth Theater Live! Youtube channel.

Tell me about the ICON conference?
Is vending the Roadshow a good networking opportunity?
Is there a genre art presence?
It’s in Baltimore this summer so I figured I’d go, but I’m a bit gobsmacked by the pricing. No day passes and the $500+ fee doesn’t include workshops or portfolio reviews.
I have a Rollo and it’s great! No problems.
Wish I’d gotten it sooner. Way faster and cheaper than running label paper through my regular printer like I’d been doing for a long time.
Watercolor portrait study in a loose but accurate style of a woman's face at 3/4 view with an expression of slight concern
Quick watercolor demo for my students during our recent portrait workshop. My next workshop is coming up soon! Watercolor Clinic on Sat March 21 in Maryland, a flexible day for students of all levels to get support on personal projects and portfolio reviews.

Watercolor illustration. A young woman with short blond hair and red blotchy facial birthmarks in a button down shirt, jeans, and suspenders attacks a shadowy figure with light coming from her hand. In the background a large bearded man in overalls with a beat up face reaches out in surprise.
Another illustration preview from the @midworldpress.bsky.social edition of Revelator by @darylwriterguy.bsky.social ! Soon, soon.
I’ve got size envy 👀
Watercolor painting of a white haired older man on a large shiny motorcycle, with a dramatic red background. He’s wearing a leather jacket and holding sunglasses.
My second watercolor portrait commission for a great local family. Mr. Bill wanted a portrait with his beloved motorcycle before selling it. We met over the summer to take photos for the project. Painting the bike was more complex than I expected but a fun challenge and quite meditative.

Oh interesting. I go through a ton of brushes, I should try that on some old ones.
Wooow it looks amazing!
Watercolor poster illustration that reads “SEND HELP, Now Playing.” The art shows a gigantic tearful eye looming over a stormy ocean. The tears merge with the waves of the ocean. In the reflection of the eye is a leaping female figure holding a spear.
Excited to reveal this project I did for SEND HELP, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Rachel McAdams & Dylan O’Brien, now in theaters! My illustration was painted traditionally in watercolor. Many thanks to @20thcenturystudios.bsky.social and @posterposse.bsky.social for this opportunity!
See it for yourself.

They’re birth marks that the main characters all have
Watercolor illustration of three different hands against a murky green background. One hand is a child's holding a yellow trillium flower in an open palm. One hand is a young woman's crushing the same kind of flower in a fist. The third hand is an old woman's holding a withered, rotting flower. All three hands also have similar large reddish patchy birth marks on the skin.
A while ago I had the pleasure of creating illustrations for the @midworldpress.bsky.social edition of Revelator by @darylwriterguy.bsky.social. Wanted to pass on this teaser of the signature page art that Midworld shared in a recent newsletter! I'm excited to reveal more art in the coming months.
"Rising Tide," a watercolor painting of a raft of otters floating in a starry galaxy.
Excited to be returning to the #anthrocon Dealer's Den in Pittsburgh in July!
I may try to do a few watercolor badge commissions this time around. I might be reaching out to see if I can find a few volunteer guinea pigs to help me practice that process, since it's new to me.
