We ask the next Welsh Government to take urgent action and commit to a specific focus on improving outcomes and doubling survival rates for the less survivable cancers.
We’re calling on the next Scottish Government to close the deadly cancer gap. Less survivable cancers account for 1 in 4 diagnoses in Scotland, but average 5-year survival is just 16%. It’s time to improve outcomes, address research gaps and prioritise early diagnosis for LSCs.
The Rare Cancers Act 2026 received Royal Assent on Friday - a major milestone for people affected by less survivable cancers. The Taskforce will continue working with government and partners across the UK to ensure this Act delivers real change.
Following the AGM, the APPG on Less Survivable Cancers held a spotlight session on treatment delays, exploring the systemic barriers patients face in accessing timely treatment, as well as the changes needed to improve access and outcomes.
