The Rare Cancers Act 2026 received Royal Assent on Friday - a major milestone for people affected by less survivable cancers. The Taskforce will continue working with government and partners across the UK to ensure this Act delivers real change.
Following the AGM, the APPG on Less Survivable Cancers held a spotlight session on treatment delays, exploring the systemic barriers patients face in accessing timely treatment, as well as the changes needed to improve access and outcomes.
This week, the APPG on Less Survivable Cancers held its AGM.

We're delighted to see the early diagnosis of lung and oesophageal cancers prioritised as part of the forthcoming National Cancer Plan.
Late diagnosis is a big factor in making these cancers 'less survivable', so it's extremely positive to see this as a focus.

Last week, during #LessSurvivableCancersAwarenessWeek, peers from across the House of Lords backed the Rare Cancers Bill. The Bill could boost research, trials and innovation, with a national strategy. A vital step forward.
