The loudest voices on this site on Covid are the most obnoxious and know the least about it from a social justice framework. They also refer to the pandemic in past tense

Meanwhile, virtually every Canadian governmental official (with the exception of our privacy commissioner) is not only not questioning the legality of X becoming the largest CSAM and non-consensual porn site on the internet, they continue to support the site by posting there.
He was—and is—talking out of both sides of his mouth on this issue. It feels very colonialist, conservative, and ultimately counterproductive to his entire legislative vision (to the extent he had one lol).
Yep! As a friend reminded me, that was the moment he decided to throw away years of relationship building between NDP governments and BC's Indigenous peoples.
And look where it's gotten him...
Even setting aside the policy failures, his political instincts on this issue have been appalling. It's like he's erased years of good will for no appreciable political benefit to himself or the party.
the premier insists this is needed because “the B.C. Court of Appeal ruled late last year that the mineral rules in the province are ‘inconsistent’ with the DRIPA legislation” but for some reason he's not amending the Mining Act

As Karen says, Premier Caved Easy
Two and a half pints of freshly pulled, extra-cold Guinness.
May 10, 2001. I should celebrate this anniversary with a pint or three (minus the viral illness)
This makes me cringe now, but I was once pretty sick while traveling in Dublin, but I still decided to visit the Guinness brewery anyway. After three delicious pints I stumbled back to my hostel and went to sleep. I woke the next day feeling absolutely sublime. GUINNESS IS GOOD FOR YOU! 😂🤦♂️
This is obscene. Our public dollars should not be spent on private schools.
What happened to Gisèle Pélicot was truly heinous but it was not isolated.
This CNN investigation is profoundly harrowing, so please exercise caution.
Why is it that price signals, the manifestation of the free market, are some innately wise force when it comes to housing or groceries — but when gas prices rise, we should do everything we can to blunt it? Are drivers exempt from the free market? Are there no alternatives to driving SUVs?
Hear hear. And please do not cheat and say “source: Twitter”. That is not a source, that is a medium. It’s like saying “source: some magazine.” If you can’t find the source you can’t verify it’s not made up or stolen and you can’t credit the creator if it’s art or photography. Source your shit!
I agree the headline is not great, but the numbers themselves are still pretty damning. Kids are missing so much more school these days. Ask me how I know 😩
Well I'll be damned.
@bcndp.bsky.social MLAs *CAN* stop toeing the party line, display integrity, and stand up to inequity.
Amazing.
How about it, @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social?
How about doing the same and standing up for the 26,000+ Autistic kids you're planning to shunt off of equitable funding?

In conclusion: death to first pass the post lol
I should mention I've been guilty in the past of just voting for the party when I should have been scrutinizing the actual candidates.
I vastly prefer minority govts but I'm strangely indifferent to the idea of floor-crossers. We elect people even if we think we're electing parties, and it would benefit us all if we were better informed about the character of our candidates ahead of time. I also find floor crossing self-correcting.

Thanks for this! Comforting thread indeed.

I guessed this but didn't know. Smart kid!
I wish she could recognize that knowingly poisoning the information environment with AI fakes in one sphere will obviously make it harder to combat disinformation in other spheres (see: covid) going forward.
I get taken in my fakes occasionally too. I just wish the original poster would delete it now that she knows it's fake.
Also, I love how in the real one you can see the heated air from the still-toasty capsule
I was quite nervous as well!
