Across 3 studies, we found that instrumental learning influences social biases in emotion recognition: associating rewards with outgroup faces changed how people perceived emotions.
These findings suggest that learning can help retrain social perception and provide insights for reducing biases.
In a series of studies, participants learned to associate actions and rewards with faces from different social groups.
This instrumental learning paradigm allowed us to test whether learning through reward could reshape how emotions are recognized.

There were no databases available with these two emotions for both social groups. With the help of Jeroen Derks (MPI, Nijmegen), we created computer-generated faces for our experiment. See below for some examples—in total, we created 4 individuals per group.

Ik ben het helemaal eens met je dat er kritsich naar prestaties en gemaakte keuzes gekeken moet worden. Het gaat dus met name om dat het te snel over de mooie kant gaat. Dit kwam ook ten sprake in de Tubantia podcast volgens mij. Goed punt. Volgend seizoen hopelijk in Europa weer een kans ;)
Hoe ziet zoiets eruit? Ik heb de meeste stukken van de regionale pers wel gelezen en veel naar de verschillende podcasts geluisterd. Wat kan er anders?
Lijkt me wat te optimistisch om de derde plek als lat te zien op dit moment. Gezond kritisch lijkt me om plaatsing voor een Europese competitie te gebruiken voor pers en supporters.
Ben het niet met je eens. Er zijn genoeg stukken geschreven en podcasts opgenomen door de regionale pers waarin het slechte spel besproken werd. Het kan ook naast elkaar bestaan, toch? Kritisch op wat beter kan en benadrukken hoe mooi het is dat we—na de slechte jaren—dit meemaken?
