Unfortunately today's councillor's surgery has had to be cancelled, as the Dorothy Parkes Centre is closing at 5pm and we don't have access to the building.
My next surgery is Monday 20th January at 5pm at Thimblemill Library. I am also available via email to Luke_Davies@sandwell.gov.uk.

Unfortunately due to illness I am having to cancel this evening's councillor surgery at Thimblemill Library. Residents can still reach me on Luke_Davies@sandwell.gov.uk or via 07974 879 379 as usual.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
A remarkable stat: Heidi Alexander’s appointment as Transport Secretary means the cabinet is now 100% state-educated for the first time in history.
Most media headlines are wrong - MPs didn't just vote to legalise assisted dying, they voted to allow a full and proper debate and for amendments to be brought. I really do wish we taught Parliamentary process in schools.

I like this list. Because it has me on it! 😂
Main headlines: It's snowing.
Local news: It's snowing.
Sports report: It's snowing.
"And now for the weather..."
Now this place is cooking, maybe worth doing a big old energy thread.
Let’s talk about how electricity prices are set, why they’re so high in Britain, and how we could reduce them…

In a place as multicultural as Smethwick I am proud that we hold a special commemoration for those soldiers.
Over a million South Asian soldiers served in the British Indian Army in World War 1 including 1 in 6 Tommies on the Western Front. Soldiers from the Caribbean, Africa, the Dominions and other places now part of the Commonwealth served in the British armed forces in the World Wars & other conflicts.
It was an honour to represent Sandwell Council alongside fellow Councillors and MPs Gurinder Josan and Preet Gill at the remembrance service for Sikh and Commonwealth soldiers at the Lions of the Great War statue led by Guru Nanak Gurdwara this morning, alongside representatives of other faiths.
I was out today with Gurinder Singh Josan MP and Lord John Spellar out on the doors in Smethwick, talking to residents on Francis Road and picking up casework.
Don't forget @jenhemingway.bsky.social - she's Co-Op Party's National Equalities Officer!
I have long argued that mutualisation of the railways would be the best way forward - so I'm glad to see a co-operative open access operator being given the go-ahead in the South-West!

Co-Op Party list to follow!
Best wishes to all on Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth anniversary Gurpurab
Whilst I do like the whole "no horrible drama" thing, so far my favourite thing about Bluesky is that every time I open the app my brain starts involuntarily singing ELO's Mr Blue Sky at me, and I like that song a lot.
Thought I'd give Bluesky a go, hoping to have more conversations, less abuse.
