this is also something I've said before & should write about one day: if you're making art, you should know what it's *about*. this should be obvious, but somehow isn't. most stuff i see only knows plot descriptions or tropes or aesthetics. it's not that. what is it trying to understand or express?
like we have so much in the public domain or in creative commons with attribution that we can use, you don't even need to do collage as i did, you can just use it as is. you just have to look for it.
the process of research itself gives you so many new ideas, you find so much more than you intended

It's an eclectic mix of backgrounds, and its mild lack of coherence is a strength rather than a weakness. You're asked to imagine a world where a Witch, a Firestarter, an Ooze, and a Clown would come together to fight Nazis and cops. Is that so hard to imagine? Somehow it is not
The game itself is mostly a list of 100 different backgrounds, each one delightfully twisted and strange and unique. You could have a party made up of an Escaped Human
Sacrifice, a Magician, an Artist, and a Failed Experiment (what I got by rolling 4d100 just now)
It's a real feast for the eyes: bodies in all states of (un)dress, folklore depictions from around the world, aliens, animals, mindbending collage, paper textures. The game really feels like it's a manual for resisting fascists created by the very people being targeted
I mean, this game is positively dripping with (bodily) juice, all impeccably enhanced by almost entirely PUBLIC DOMAIN ART. Turns out that all you need to make a game with a cohesive and effective visual aesthetic is an actual point of view and some interesting art direction
